    Beds

Going to be in the market for a new bed soon. Actually should do it sooner but it's christmas and I have a kid so not much extra money. I'm mostly a side sleeper and have been looking at tempurpedic or costco brand memory foam mattress. I like the idea of the sleep number bed but I've heard that mold and mildew can build up and needs to be taken out of the frame and cleaned once a month. I really like the new tempurpedic ergo with the adjustable frame. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

do NOT get an imitation.. hands down.. tempurpedic

anyone who disagrees is just plain wrong!

King size: $3000.00 (give or take)

there has been contraversy over the costco brand. problem is you unroll it and the fumes are overpowering for several days. complaints are headache, etc.

the other problem with foam mattress is lousy for sex. you get on your knees and just sink in to almost the bottom. same with a water bed. if you don't plan on having sex in your bed, then i'd say go for it.

go to consumer reports and do a proper search/analysis

(I do not have a foam mattress. Only going by second hand information and consumer reports)

Yep. But I haven't listened to KGO in years. Never heard of the DUX bed either. Best bet is consumer reports.

Years ago, the "Good Morning Show" was telling the world that the best inexpensive bed was (forget name) it had rave reviews. So the woman went and bought the damn thing. It lasted about a year before it started hurting my back. After I left for Afghanistan, I told her to go get a new bed, as I'm not sleeping on that crappy mattress anymore (back no longer hurt overseas).

So these shows have paid sponsors, even when it sounds like they are really endorsing, they are simply getting paid to say what's on the script.

Yes and the Dux bed (Duxianna) must be very expensive,no price listed and only a handful of dealers in the state. Not going to the city just to spend too much on a mattress. But one of the models does have a unique adjustable support system.

Oh and KGO sucks now they changed the whole format, and pretty much got rid of the old crew.

funny thing was that bed the woman bought hurt my back, but when we went camping and i slept on the ground in a bag, my back felt great!

oh, i know. but when i was investigating a foam bed, someone told me sex was difficult "just like a waterbed".

the waterbed is the only thing i have actual experience with.

the other thing about foam mattresses from what i hear is that they hold in the heat. shit, i ruun the ceiling fan even in the winter. so with all the neg crap i heard, I just decided to get a traditional, yet very expensive, bed.

There is a memeory foam matress made from a different foam that is more expensive then the temperpedic...it is supposed to not hold heat like the Temp and resist mold and mildew...I researched the hell out of them but 5K for a matress is simply out of my range...although with my back I should pimp myself out and get one!

I will find it later tonight!!!

dudes i am a hot son of a bitch all the freaking time! i wear pj shorts and a tank top and have the aC ON 69degrees all the time while my ewife and daughter are wearing sweats and complaining. i wear shorts all yr round (including right now). im a hot S.O.B. trust me! im hot..

the tempurpedic bed i have i have NOT ONCE EVER woken up in the middle of the night hot or gone to bed and gotten hot. the cheaper model i think does not have the air flow pathways but mine does. it is no difft than a regular mattress!

i would be a spokesperson for tempurpedic! i used to wake up in the am tired and with an aching back most days. i got that bed and all those probs went away with the piece of shiit regular mattress i used to sleep on (posturpedic fancy pillowtop junk)..

    GET A TEMPURPEDIC!!! (gosh!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Now wait a minute guys. I always was told that sex was fantastic in waterbeds because youd give one pump and it would pump back 3 times to your one thrust. So you could ride the waves. So whats going on here. Was the lava light causing issues? Or those mushrooms while listening to white rabbit by Jefferson Airplane? Or was all that crap just a build up to get hippies to buy waterbeds back in those days?

Back when I had a waterbed it would have been the vial of liquid LSD and Pink Floyd

Anyone ever have or try those "sleep number" beds? They look more like marketing hype to me but curious if anyone ever owned/tried them.

I bought a new mattress last year. Paid a grip for it. Very comfy though.

I tried the serta Icomfort and it is great. A couple people I know have it and like it more than tempurpedic. It has gel inserts which makes it cooler than tempurpedic, so no night sweats.

Thanks Gixx. I've seen them advertised a lot but never knew anyone who tried it.

Another question....do people still buy box springs with a new mattress? My wife never bought a bed with a box spring. I found that weird. I've never bought a mattress without the box spring. Her argument was that with newer mattresses being so thick, a box spring isn't necessary. That's still weird to me.

my woman right now is saying no. she's thinking logistically like are there two seperate mattress' or one. how do you make the bottom sheet? is it really two seperate beds or one, and if two seperate, then do you just push em together?

I'm like fuk all that! the bed totally kicks back, and the reclining position could really help my fukked up back. I've been with this woman 27 years now, and sometimes, I don't ask, i just do.

Sometimes when you ask, all you get is "NO"

I take a look at where its coming from for one but anyone who is shelling out 3K for a mattress is probably going to take care of it but I do like to make sure they do NOT have pets. I bought a 2k - 3K mattress for $100 and it was put back in the original bad and I got the receipt. It was only 6mo old and it was just that, his wife wanted a different one.

i have had beds with and with out. It more matter on the bed frame style if i used one or not. Some frames are designed not to and have extra supports.
