My wife and I are preparing to get blood work done in preparation for our first cycles. I had thought previously that I had read that a Female Hormone Panel (which is cheaper) contains enough information. However, after reading Austinite's recent (excellent) post, I think I need the Male Panel (more expensive). The price isn't a huge factor but obviously I want to get the right information and not waste money.
This is what I'm looking at getting:
Hormone Panel for Males
Description: The Hormone Panel for Males contains the following tests:
- Lipid Profile
-Complete Blood Count w/ Differential
-Estradiol, Sensitive
-Insulin Growth Factor (IGF-1)
-Comprehensive Metabolic Panel
-Testosterone (Free) , Serum (Equilibrium Ultrafiltration) With Total Testosterone
-Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA)
-Thyroid Profile
Does my wife need the same test, or should she get the Female Panel?
Includes:
-Estradiol, serum;
-Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH);
-Luteinizing Hormone (LH);
-Testosterone, serum;
-Complete Blood Count (CBC): Hematocrit; hemoglobin; mean corpuscular volume (MCV); mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH); mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC); red cell distribution width (RDW); percentage and absolute differential counts; platelet count; red cell count; white blood cell count; immature granulocytes.
-Comprehensive Metabolic Profile (CMP)
Thanks!
