** video debate ** high carb vs. low carb

Alan Aragon and Jeff Volek discussing this topic at a recent PT conference. If you have about an hour, it's a great watch.

The gist is basically Volek making the case that low carb dieting (light keto) is beneficial and as shown in some (debatable) studies, optimal vs. higher carb. Aragon, of course, presents arguments against that stance.

If you're a geek like me and nutrition science interests you, then you'll enjoy this (regardless of your own views). Otherwise, it'll probably a snooze fest.

I listened to it while driving yesterday so i guess I'm a geek too.

Volek makes some interesting points but do you think any of that is groundbreaking news or anything that can't be chaulked up to the human body being amazingly adaptive?

I don't think it's anything groundbreaking, and I do feel it points out how adaptive we truly are.

Further, I think it emphasizes that a high carb diet isn't *necessary* for athletes, so long as they allow themselves the time to adapt since most are (and have been for most of their lives) running on a glucose fueled engine.

Low carb always works for me. High carb never works for me. You'll always see both sides. Individualistic because both sides have been proven effective for different people.
