    Fitbit Flex accuracy

I had my TDEE figured at 3200 so on my recent bulk I was eating at 4k over 3 months and gained about 13 pounds. I was looking more bloated than anything. I then cut my cals back to 2500 and within 2 weeks I was back down to my starting weight of 200 pounds. I have been wearing the fitbit for awhile now and on average it claims that I burn between 3800 and 4100 calories a day. I work an active job and I am on my feet walking back and forth in a warehouse all night carrying boxes. If the only answer is to eat close to 5k to actually start seeing gains then I guess I'm SOL because ir was a SOAB just cramming in 4k clean.

It's just an estimate, try eating at your estimated maintenance for 3-4 weeks. If your weight stays the same during the 3rd and 4th week then that's your maintenance and you should eat in a surplus from there, according to your goals.

Hey Khaz. You chimed in on my other thread. I ate at 4k for 3 months and only gained water weight.

Maybe you just lost more water/glycogen than when you were initially at 200lb, for example I started cutting at 73kg, went down to 68kg over a week then back to 70kg once the water and glycogen balanced out.

That's why it's important to give 1-2 weeks for water and glycogen to stabilise at maintenance, then you can accurately see whether you're below or above TDEE.

Ahhhh! Will have to keep this in mind when I decide to cut after cycle. Right now i am trying to pinpoint the most accurate TDEE that I can. This is why I bought the fitbit. If these close to 4k calories burned every day are close to accurate I am screwed lol. I want to add as much mass on this cycle as I can especially since it is my first. It was very tough to eat 4k when I was. I was always full and uncomfortable.

If that's what you have to do to gain weight that's what you have to do. IIFYM TDEE calculator, the first on a google search has been the most accurate to me so far, maybe 50 calories off if that.

I just did a really rough estimation of your TDEE and a taxing job+regular exercise means about 3700 at my estimation of your height/weight (I said 5'9, 200lb, 20% BF 28 years old) regardless of the stats it's going to be around there, and I'd say since you're on cycle start eating 4k again and see how it goes. Don't be afraid to eat a pop tart and some ice cream.

LOL at the poptart and ice creme. My buddy and I have a long standing joke about his diet. He is ripped at 7-8% BF and all he eats is microwave pizza, poptarts and miscellaneous other junk and stays ripped. I eat clean and still manage to add fat.

Haha some just get the bad hand when it comes to that. I used to eat crap all the time and add no weight, until I realised my total caloric intake was still too low, now my appetite is completely different and I have to eat clean to feel full (bar refeed days) and not go over my calories.
