Welcome to the boards, you’re in the right place!
Cheers
Welcome aboard!
Alaska!!! That's wild how do you like living there? How long have you lived in Alaska? Man you about to blow a bag on groceries haha!
Welcome
Welcome to aboard brother!
Alright there "Klondike Kid", welcome aboard.
Been to "the last frontier" on several occasions: training in the south (not that the water was any warmer/a far cry from Key West, Fl.), up north to Ft. Wainwright, and climbing on three separate trips on Denali, with the absolute pinnacle of my alpine climbing experience being a two man assault on the Cassin Ridge in 1999.
Gotta admit, I always wanted to live up in your neck of the woods, brother.
Ever since I was a little boy, the spirit of Jack London's To Build a Fire and The Call of the Wild, flowed through my veins... I sit here now, half a world away in Poland, fondly recalling my "glacier travel and crevasse rescue training trip, with the now defunct Alaska Denali Guiding Co.. Upon departure, the esteemed Brian Okonek held my hand, in what can only be described as "the mountain man handshake, standing on the railway platform in Talkeetna waiting for my train, and proposed me the job offer of a lifetime, "Luke, I been doing this job for a number of years, you have what it takes to be a great mountain guide, why don't you quit the navy and come up here to work for me..." I balked. That offer has always haunted me, as one of those "what if" moments...
Anyways, welcome to the forum. Rest assured, you have crash landed in the right place!
