I'll tell you honestly, I've been using along time and I used to aspiratte in the beginning but I dont even bother now especially if the injection is Glute, I will however aspirate while doing localized injections. If I were you try using another site, one you can reach more easily, like the ouside of your Quad.

I find gently massaging the area after injecting helps a bunch,
and taking your time injecting helps alot too.don't just cram it in.

How many ccs at once are we talking?

2 ccs in one glute, it didnt hurt much when i injected, aside from the moving around of the needle from changing hands, but the next day it was bad, its alot better now, still painful and more swolen, feels like i have a pack of jelly in my ass
