While it's true, what most people think of as "wheat bread" is no better at all than white bread - true whole wheat bread is an improvement. Whole wheat should be the main ingredient. Multi grain ones are even better. One way to tell if the bread is good for you is to look for how much fiber is in one slice. The brand I eat has 5 grams of fiber in one 60 calorie piece. If it only has 1-3 grams per piece, it isn't very whole in the grain category.
Be aware that depending on your dosage of R-ALA you will be throwing off that ratio...
