Tried to download Spybot & Ad-aware, neither worked

I currently have Ghostsurf (which I am starting to think is total BS), but wanted to put in spybot or adaware to test GS b/c of all the good things I've heard. But when I tried to run them after being installed (installed one, didn't work, so deleted it, and tried the other), they said they have caused a error and shut down. I've had the feeling something's in my PC for awhile and now this might prove it. Any advice? Got both from download.com.

Do you like the ghostsurf, b/c I said I had no spyware, but when I ran spybot & adaware, it showed over 50. I don't know what to think.

Ghostsurf is really more for protecting your IP addy

Not for protecting against spyware... It serves a

purpose... Try exiting out of it and see how the

    other programs run then...
