I hope that guy breaks both ankles, and in the process falls backwards and drops the bar on his trainers head.

Silliest thing I've seen in a while!

And the point to standing on a ball while doing squats is????? Wait... I know this!!! Making 110% sure your form is completely off? Looking more like an idiot in the gym? Ensuring you'll kill yourself when the ball flies out from under you?

Good grief... what the heck is wrong with good old basic routines?

I saw a runner doing that in the gym here..stability training he called it.

Funny how 'stability training' is so unstable.

Some people are better at telling others how to do stuff, maybe they dont have the drive to do it themselves but may have the knowelge (not that trainer from the pic, he is a moron) I seen this one trainer making this old guy stand on a half ball with one foot in the air while curling lol!!!

I've read up on this a time or two. Thought I might give it a try sometime but I'm in no hurry. I've also seen those machines that you stand on and they vibrate while you lift weights.

Probably best just to stick to the basics.

In a recent NSCA conditioning journal they studied the effectiveness of doing such “functional training” lifts. They found there is no correlation to improved athletic performance or increasing strength. They are only good at developing the lift in that position, on a ball, or unstable environment, that’s all. They are a good circus trick and nothing more. Dangerous and an injury waiting to happen.

Exactly. They would be great if you were playing football while baling and rolling around on balls, however they are just a gimmick to help trainers think they are staying on the cutting edge.

My question is: Look at how long plates and bars have been around and then look at how long balls and bands have been here - which has had more proven success?

Arnold didn't win the Olympia squatting or pressing while on a ball, Hank Aaron didn't hit the most HR's by balancing on a disc, Walter Payton didn't become one of the greatest rushers by standing on a ball and trying to run.

This stuff is made as toys and gimmicks for trainers that don't know squat.

That's just an accident waiting to happen. I use a boso ball, but NOT for squatting. Where did that personal trainer come from, a cracker jack box?
