Why doesn't Las Vegas have a proffesional sportsteam?

I was just looking at some demographic info on the USA and noticed that Las Vegas has a population of 1.5 million. This is for example nearly 3 times the population of Baltimore, who have the Orioles.

So I got to wonder why they don't have a sportsteam. With all the money that flows in Las Vegas, I think they can easily match up the payroll of the Yankees.

Do you think that no league wants to be associated with Las Vegas? Do you think it's mostly becuase of the gambling? But so what, nowadays people can place internet bets all over the world.

Because betting on that team and having the team throw games and shit would be too much of an easy thing to do.

too many other things going on. in small cities like buffalo and baltimore the fan base revolves around the teams. vegas would have a terrible fan base. they would probably sellout every game cause the casinos would buy all the tickets and give them away but the team would be playing in front of a different crowd every night. dont really know the worry of gambling would be too much. unlv plays in vegas. football and basketball. college is where the line can be affected. no insentive anymore for pro athletes to be fixin games. they make too much money.

Could you imagine a sports team in Vegas? I mean, how much trouble would these athletes get into in Vegas? I think it needs to happen just so we can see exactly what these athletes are capable of doing off the field.
