I have also read about this technique in an article in MAXIM. Another method is too tighten your sphincter during the control questions. The theory behind these techniques is that you activate your sympathetic nervous system when you step on the tack or tighten your sphincter. If you do this during the control questions and try to relax during the real questions, the test should come back as inconclusive. No first hand knowledge if this works, though. Good luck.
