Depends on whether you're a southerner . . .
But seriously, folks . . .
You pronounce it the second way - "Hume'a-log," with the accent on the first syllable. As in "human" insulin .

That was just wrong, funny (I hate to admit that), but definitely wrong.

Off topic, but relevant . . .

Anyway, Jason, I find the whole concept of accents humorous and don't mean to disparage southerners (except in Mississippi and Alabama - I love both states, but I've never been able to find good Chinese food there).
I find it interesting, however, that most broadcast journalists in the south work like hell to lose their southern accents. Really - turn on the TV news in Houston, and it will sound the same as in New York.
On the other hand, I can think of two professions off the top of my head in which many people from the north try to develop a southern accent, even if they have to fake it: preachers and long-haul truck drivers (especially when they use a CB radio). Go figure . . .

TNT, you are right about all points. I guess I have always mispronounced "insurance", or maybe I pronounce it right, but everyone else pronounces it wrong. And in all actuality I have been trying to lose my southern accent for as long as I can remember, unfortunately it is hard to lose the accent when you live in the south. (Ask anyone on the board who has talked to me on the phone, I haven't had much success so far )
The truck driver and preacher comment, I'm not touching that one. LOL

LOL, some of us have used Ya'll so long we aren't sure what it stands for anymore, we just know where it fits in. So I guess you are telling me that Ya'll is not a proper word? LOL
