Free food for college students: READ THIS!
Just wanted to share a potentially valuable piece of info to my fellow students. I don't know how this works in every state, but here in Illinois if you are a full-time student who works at least 20 hours a week you're entitled to free money for food. I found out from guys I work with. You don't have to be from a poor family or anything- ANYONE who works 20 hours and goes to school full-time qualifies as long as their schooling isn't paid for by a trust fund or doesn't receive regular money from parents/relatives. I get my Link card in a week and I will be eating like a king on my first cycle. I saw a story on the news around here that said only 55% of the people who qualify for this program utilize it. Check it out guys! I think this boost in my food budget alone will help my gains tremendously.

Best thing in college for me was becoming good friends with a girl that worked in a supermarket, as a cashier. I helped her out with math and she didn't scan most of my food. Can't beat that.

sorry for not following up guys. Ive been gone for a few days. I don't know how it works everywhere but in Illinois you go to DHS (the welfare/medical card office basically) and talk to a caseworker. If you meet some criteria (here it's full-time student, work at least 20 hours per week, and aren't supported by relatives, trust funds, or other income) you can get the card. I'm just a student, so I have no idea if/how this works other places but I would think that if Illinois has it others would too. I know some people don't get them here because they're too proud to go to the welfare office. Screw that! I've got no problem with it, especially since I'll be on EQ soon and devouring everything in sight. There are restrictions as to what you can buy, but they're not restrictive really- you can't buy any hot food, but any other food item is OK. Again, this is how it works here and it may be different in other places. If anyone's got more questions ask 'em, but htis is pretty much all I know. One more thing- I work with a guy who is married and has kids. He and his wife are students and they get almost $600/month this way.

Went to my college financial aid office and they laughed in my face when I asked them about this. Looks like it's no good here....

It doesn't go through the school, it's through the government. They may have no idea what's going on at the financial aid office.
