Are there any negatives to telling your doctors

I was wondering if there are any problems with telling your doctors what you are taking. I have heard that they will put it in your "permanent record" (sounds like what they told me in junior high) and insurance companies will be able to see it. Would that same be true if you went to a specialist? Sounds like a catch-22...you need to tell your doctor to be safe from medical problems, but you cant because you need to be safe from insurance promblems. Somebody shed some light on this for me...thanks

no. they cant really tell your insurance company. i went to a doc when i got an infection on my cycle and told him everything, so he could treat me properly. all that went on the record was 'leg infection.' you NEVER want to lie to your doctor.

doctors are not allowed to tell your insurance company anything with your release

Bull **** doctors cant tell insurance companies.... Well they are not gonna go snitching on you... but you can bet the doctor is going to put it in your records which the insurance companies have full access to. if there gonna pay for you there gonna know everything.

I wouldnt bring it up with a doc unless you are having major health problems which are either related to AS use, or having some sort of procedure where it is imparitave that he knows. If you have to say something I would bend the truth and say you used andro and creatine.

sworn to privacy is not the right way to say it, they don't have the legal right to divulge your medical history without your concent or a subpena

doctors can show your information to insurance companies if you admit to illegal drug use.

a negative to not telling your doctor can be your health, I think you should tell your doctor. lxorl you have to give consent for you doctor to send info about something like AAS.

They'll give you a nice lecture about how there could be piss in what you're injecting. Then you tell them it's def. not urine as you gain lbs of muscle in weeks.

im not trying to argue, do what you think is best.

I agree you should discuss it with a doc if you are having medical problems that are related or could be complicated by AAS use, but I also know for a fact that insurance companies have free access to the medical records of someone they are paying for.

I have had plenty of health problems and problems with the insurance companies. I my father is also a doctor, and we have discussed this matter before.

"New federal rules designed to protect the use of medical records would not affect McKinley Health Center as much as they would impact other health-care providers around the country.

The rules, issued by the Clinton administration but not scheduled to take effect until Feb. 26, would require health-care providers to, among other things, obtain written consent from patients before using or disclosing any information in their medical records."

from a website found with a simple google search, every state is different, but Bill Clinton signed a law 6 years ago stating that in order for anyone to obtain your medical records, the patient has to sign a release first
