    Posting on AR at work

I started a new job this week and I had to sign a paper regarding the proper use of there computers which includeds websites that I go to/download stuff from. Is there a way that my employer can see if I am on a AS site, even if I do not post on it? They can't see what sites I am on because I am in my own office.

Do you guys post to AR at work? I have been doing so, so far.

I do but I run the network at my site.....

If the company uses a proxy server which most if not all companies do then there will be a log of what sites you visited and how long you're on the net.

Sure they can have key stroke loggers and automatic timed screencapture of what you looking at,and it gets stored.

Ohhh! they can see what sites you are on, even if you have your own computer, and even if you delete your cookies, history etc.... what they can't see, is what you post ( just like i'm doing now at work ) I've been aproached before why , do i go to certain web sites, and this site, was one of them... my answer, was simple... just looking up information, on health, nutrition, work out questions, how to improve my life etc.... they also told me that there is a lot of info, on this web site about steroids , and if i was reading that info, or using steroids... and i agree with them, that there is a lot of info, about A.S, but that does not mean, i have to read it, i just read, what is important to me ( on my lunch time ).... my work place then, wanted me, to get tested for A.S, and i refused, because they have no right to find out about my health issues, and that maybe i am, on test for health reasons, it's got nothing to do with them, unless, they can prove, and are telling me that i'm not doing my job, that my work performance sucks,etc... and that the only logic explanation is that i'm on drugs that aftec your judgment... as far as i know, A.S, do not affect the way you think, or perform, in your job , now if they want to test me for any other drugs, like mariajuana or acid, etc... i will do it, because, those are drugs ,that affect your brain in the work place.

This was 6 months ago, and they have not bothered me since ( maybe because i was open with them, or maybe because, i've been doing my job for the past 14 years in the same company).
I know that 1 month in half, after this happen, one other supervisor got fired ( oh! the company i work for don't say that... they say "dismessed") because he was at work, gammbling on the internet, and also on XXX web sites ; but i'm still here , so i guess , as long i don't go and gamble or go on XXX web sites i'm O.k.

If you think, after you delete something, that it's completely gone, man are you wrong... it's still somewhere in your hard drive.

Peace... need to go back to work.... no time for spell check.

Thanks for the info on this guys.

If you go to AR from a search engine as coldstone said they will not be able to track you to AR????

Any more info on how to go to AR at work with out your employer knowing? I work long hours and sometimes it is the only chance I have to read AR, which I love doing!

I'm pretty sure that if you're on a network, they can see what web sites that you've been to. Your computer goes through the network and asks for information from the internet, so the network administrators and such can see what sites that you've been browsing. I think that's right. . . .

You got it... network administrators know where you are going... i would say stay off the Porn sites, and gambling and you will be O.K.

Yep, this is my occupation as a network/system engineer. Whether you go through proxy or not, we can still identify which sites you've been going to. As for contents, it's quite difficult but not impossible.

My take on it is, depends on how small or large your company is, use your judgement. If it's a corporation, I'd be careful with it. If not, then have a good time on your break.

I do it sometimes, and i think one time i've accidentally left a print out of the "abbreviations" chart on the printer. The guys just handed to me and chuckled, "no wonder why you're getting bigger."

Steroid is a "Controlled Substance" does not mean they're all illegal. If anything tries to pull some legal crap on you, then you can tell them your doc prescribed it.

Im in the MIS dept here were i work, and if you work for a med/large company (say 100+ users) they are not going to look to closely at the logs unless they have reason to. Like if managment asks to keep an eye on a certian user... Other wise, the proxy log for a large company is so big that its cumbersome to look at.

You need to make buddies with the MIS dept...Then you'll be safe.
