Ground Beef question
This will be for a bulking diet
i was going to buy 95% lean for pro/fat meals and add flax seed or olive oil.
Could i just buy the 85% or 90% beef and add NO flax seed and that be my pro/fat meal?

As long as you get your EFA's in from other meals I see no problem with that.

its okay for bulking, but I would only use EFA's while cutting

I don't know how much fat it removes.... but I bought 30% fat ground beef and when I'm done cooking it I put it in a strainer and rinse it with hot water.... doesn't it remove almost all of the fat? The meat tastes super dry so I figured that it has to be much leaner....

I always just buy the ground chuck at 80% lean (cheapest) and pour the fat out all the time when I am cooking. That way allows me to replace the "bad" fats with "good" ones. However, I'm not so sure I would do like the above poster and "rinse" the meat with hot water. There are better ways to get rid of that fat than "washing" your beef.

Beef fat is 51% monounsaturated so it is not all bad. I love it personally.

the rinsing doesn't change the taste what-so-ever... and it dries... you just have to get used to the idea... it makes great taco meat if you do it like that but at the same time I understand why it's kind of wierd to some people.. it was to me... give it a shot though...

Well then maybe I should try it sometime! Yeah, it does sound pretty weird to me, but "diffrent strokes fo diffrent folks." Maybe I'll like it better than the way I was doing it before. I'll find out before long. See you around on the boards.

I buy the 80% lean stuff and strain and rinse, takes the fat down to 5g per 4oz serving if you do it correctly.

johan
it means put your cooked beef in a food strainer and rince it under hot water.
SC or anyone with an opinion
do you eat red meat that often year around? I personally have to chock down chicken breast and do so often, i really dont like chicken breast and if i can get away with red meat at least 4 times a day i would be real happy.
