Am I alone in thinking cottage cheese...
..tastes like you're scraping week old tapioca pudding and diarhea out of a rabid silverback gorillas anus with your tongue?
Holy cow is that stuff ever vile!
Has anyone out there found a way to make it edible? I mean the taste is not too horrible, but the texture just makes me gag...
Hints?

Well, I kind of like it untill I read your post.LOL
Try putting salsa on it. Thats what I do.
If PaPaPump sees this he'll advise on peanut butter, but he puts that on everything anyway.

hmm. firstly - depends what type. if you are talking the no-name brand fat free stuff, YUKK!!! if you are talking about a reputable dairy companies full fat cottage - yummy. secondly, i think you guys are thinbking savory too much we all know how we prefere sweeter things. try mixing cottage with honey or syrup like when you are bulking, or one of those sugar free apple syrups or so when you are no looking for the extra calories. even the fat free stuff - get smooth instead of chunky, mix one large tblspoon of honey, and it aint half bad

I have tryed it...but because we used to feed it to one of my dogs years ago and now I can only associate it with dog food.

LMAO!!! I have a full container at home that I might have to throw away now.
My son and I eat it plain. He asks for that and yogurt all the time, calls them pudding. But he eats raw green peppers and raw cucumbers with me and loves lettuce too...not a normal child as far as food goes.

Try putting it into a blender with some Lipton Onion Soup mix...it makes an awesome veggie dip!! Goes great with baby carrots and brocolli!!

Woodsy ... Heeeey that also sounds decent!
Shredz ... We used to feed our cat tuna a few times a week... (was cheaper to buy tuna than catfood at costco plus mémine (our cat) loved it!) now what do you think the mental image is when I eat the darn stuff now
w8lifter ... Jam eh? hmmm! I might also try maple syrup, I get that stuff by the ton (uncle has a sugar shack)
xenithon ... Mine is the local milk company's 1% stuff. It has the consistency of chunky diarhea. As I said, taste ain't terrible, but the texture makes me gag.

do they have the smooth kind? that stuff rocks when mixed with something sweet - just like a pudding!

sprinkle some cinnimon over it, or throw some canned sliced peaches in. Peaches are my fav. Make sure both are very cool as well, makes a big difference. And I like the large curd over the small.

xenithon ... Smooth kind would be really nice... Consistency of yogurt I can deal with. This runny and chunky stuff on the other hand ewwwww!
I did try a few of the ideas here... most of the sweet things (jam, maple...) were good but I had to blender the stuff to make it smoother.
frankm7 ... Fish????? You're sick frank! Sick sick sick!
broncojosh ... Peaches I will try, I love canned peaches in syrup! YUM! I usually have some with frozen yogurt.

caladin ... hey same here! I shovel in 3-4 spoonfulls and it's ok... and then *GAG* feels gross.
Shredz ... Well, in my defence I have to say I tried tuna (yuck) with 2 big spoonfulls of mild Salsa in it and WOW! Super edible, and downright tasty! (I'm sure my cat wouldn't like the Salsa though ).

Wooooooooooohooooo!!!!
I finally found a brand of cottage cheese I like!!!! YEAH!
Liberty "Old Style" firm cottage cheese. Has the consistency of philly cream cheese and actually tastes nice! A spoonfull of strawberry jam and the stuff almost tastes like cheesecake (hey close enough when you've been living off tuna for breakfast!)
Yeeeehaw I'ma one happy dude The perfect desert or breakfast.

put 1 whole container of cottag cheese in a blender, at about 1 cup water and a scoop of flavored whey protein. add whey as you see fit. gets rid of the consistancy. and if it still doesn't float your boat, just suck it up and chug.
only warning is it does not last very long out of refrieration.
if you want carbs it is easy to add, ad juice for high GI or boiled potatoes for complex. blend untill its a shake. its not a delacasy but it literally a wholesome meal you can drink.
this shake should be drunk as soon as possible.
these two kept me alive while roofing over the summer, didn't loose a pound, even gained a little.

I LOVE cottage cheese and what a GREAT source of protien!!!! i guess just like anything else that i can't stomach on its own, I usually throw in a blender with something sweet (as others have already mentioned) and just plug my nose and scarf it back. 15 seconds later its all over!
(Gag) Yummmmy. (Gag) Just kidding, it works!
