HRT Shots -weekly or bi-weekly better?
A close associate of mine is getting HRT shots (T. Cyp.) each week at 150mg. He's growing tired of going to the doc and getting stuck each week. And, his insurance covers almost the entire cost if the doc does the shots. If he does them, then he has to pay a lot to get the cyp from the pharmacy.
He's feeding me his questions (over his cellphone) to post here as follows:
1). What are the pros and cons of switching his weekly shot of 150mg of cyp to once every 2 weeks at 300mg? In other words, will he still get some good benefits from taking the shot every 2 weeks at 300mg as opposed to a weekly shot of 150mg? Which is better? Please explain... [I told him about cyp and the 3-week ester stuff, but not sure that I covered it totally well.]
2). He's been getting the weekly shot for about 1 year now. He says his testicles are the size of almonds (a picture and message I did not want). He wants to know if his balls will come back if and when he stops (generally speaking). I told him about PCT, but we were not sure how it related to a HRT cycle that he's been on for a year (@ 150mg of cyp per week).
Thanks for your help and insight. I haven't kept up on much of this, and was not the best of help to him. So, I knew where to turn... Here!

He must have a money grubbing doctor. Does he have to pay each time to go to the office and get an injection?

Most of the time its 200mg a week for therapy.
My own experience based on what you have said is that this guy needs to find a new doctor. HCG and other related therapies are well known already by a competent doctor.
My wife does my shots at home.
He shouldn't need PCT because he will always be on.
Maybe someone else can explain it better.

levels are much more constant if u get shots weekly. tell him he should learn to inject so he can do it at home, every week.

The only docs that he has been able to find that do HCG shots are online docs.
Also, he wants to eventually stop HRT. He was doing fine without it a year ago, but ended up doing it because of the benefits. However, he's now finding that he'd just like to go back to the way things were. Does he have to stay on it forever now? Or, can he regain the T production that he once was producing prior to beginning the shots a year ago? Has 150mg per week of T. Cyp permanently shut him down?

i doubt that 150 mg/ test a week would shut anyone down unless it's taken for a prolonged period of time

I have been on HRT for 4 1/2 years and most the cutting edge HRT specialists prescribe shots every week not every two weeks. As ***XXX **** said, this gives a much more consistent level than shots every two weeks. And you will not have as many sides with the lower dosage that weekly injections uses. I will note my doc uses HCG as part of his HRT protocol and it has been a great improvement over Testosterone therapy alone. The latest protocol that most of the doctors in the American Academy of Anti Ageing use is weekly injections. Dr. John Chrisler, who is one of their panelists, and teaches for their seminars, uses HCG with weekly injection. Dr John is a MOD on a couple of HRT boards and has some stickys of his protocol and reasons for using HCG and weekly injections (www.forum.mesomorphosis.com/forumdisplay.php?f=9)
As for the cost of self injections, the savings in monthly co-pays with no doctor visits will more than pay for a 10 ML bottle of 200 mg Testosterone that will last between 4 to 5 months.
As far as “prolonged period of time” at 100mg a week for a year, and I was producing no or very little natural Testosterone. So I my case, one year did it. My doc was able to bring my natural production back to lower ranges with the introduction of small dosages of HCG. See SWALE sticky on the link above for that protocol.

I did 150my weekly for 6 months. Stopped with no problems. However, I do take .75 arimidex daily. Will lower dose soon. Stay off a couple months. Doctors make their money on weekly visits. When you want off they get
insecure they think your leaving them. They loose revenue. Though shit!
I see you later money whore.
