Insurance and TRT

How many of you guys use your insurance for your TRT scrips? What has your experience been? I am assuming as long as you are diagnosed properly with a medical condition and not just for anti aging it should not be a problem.

Same problem here .
My employers health pamphlet suggests to get testosterone checked after 40 . I can't believe they won't pay for therapy when they acknowledge the existence of diagnosis .

BC/BS here -- and they won't cover it. So there's absolutely zero benefit for me to go through a traditional doc. Unless you're running crazy amounts of gear the HRT clinics are reasonably affordable even if out of pocket. A legit HRT clinic isn't going to advocate using a boatload of stuff to treat low test. There are some out there that are in it just to see how much crap they can put you on in order to jack up the $$ totals higher.

BC/BS here and they DO cover it for me. Tested below their 'magic number' to start so I am good to go. Currently on 120mg test E every week.

when i had insurance i had no problems getting test and arimidex ....united healthcare was one...

sucks paying cash for arimidex...the test aint bad

unless times are severely changing, i would seriously think aetna would have no argument with doctor prescribed test in moderate dosing to a patient diagnosed with hypogonadism

Im with United Health Care and they use Medco for rx. Im in the process on being put on trt. Just waiting to do my MRI. Thier website has a search for rx coverage and how much i would pay which is really convenient. I cant see how Insurancr wouldnt cover your Trt when test is rather cheap

United Health care and they cover 400mg every two weeks for me.

Note: Most policies specifically exclude coverage of steroids for performance enhancement. For plans without this exclusion, androgens and anabolic steroids , as well as other medical interventions for performance enhancement, are not covered because performance enhancement of non-diseased individuals is not considered treatment of disease or injury. Please check benefit plan descriptions for details.

Aetna considers anabolic steroids medically necessary for any of the following indications:

AIDS wasting syndrome; or
Anemia accompanying renal failure; or
Bone marrow failure anemias; or
Refractory red cell production anemias (including aplastic anemia, myelofibrosis, myelosclerosis, agnogenic myeloid metaplasia, hypoplastic anemias caused by malignancy or myelotoxic drugs); or
Weight loss from cancer chemotherapy; or
Breast cancer; or
Hereditary angioedema; or
Growth failure in children with growth hormone deficiency (treatment adjunct); or
Conditions associated with decreased fibrinolytic activity due to anti-thrombin III deficiency or fibrinogen excess (including cutaneous vasculitis, scleroderma of Raynaud's disease, vasculitis of Behcet's disease, complications of deep vein thrombosis such as venous lipodermatosclerosis, other vascular disorders associated with these forms of reduced fibrinolytic activity, and prevention of recurrent venous thrombosis associated with anti-thrombin III deficiency); or

Aetna considers androgens and anabolic steroids experimental and investigational as a treatment for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and for all other indications.

Agreed, even though I had borderline low HRT that is what kept me going without any other chemical use. Got to have the good visual. I think thats 90% of it for OLDER people

Take most 80 yr old guy who have ED issues. Put them in a strip club with a 18 yr old hottie giving them a lap dance and see what happens. LOL

I'm covered by a company owned plan as far as scripts go. I had to obtain a special waiver but to be honest it was a simple hi this is what my doctor prescribed me and it was squared away. This is just for Test C.
