Both FSH and LH are released by the pituitary in response to GnRH. LH has a direct relationship with test production in the sertoli cells of the testes. Test is a "band aid" in your case. It likely won't cure the cause, but it will overcome the symptoms. I assume your test levels were low in addition to LH, right?

Usually, test and estrogen are negative feedback molecules at the hypothalamus. When test and estrogen are not getting to the hypothalamus (either because of low levels of either or both or because we're using a SERM like clomid, which blocks estrogen at the hypothalamus), the hypothalamus increases GnRH, which will induce the pituitary to release LH and FSH.

    I hope that's somewhat claer.
