    synthetic protein shakes vs. natural...?

    hello,
how many grams of protein do yall's typically protein shakes have? i've never used those synthetic protein shakes, but i'm thinking about it. my protein smoothies are all natural, and contain about 40-50g of eggwhite protein each. schwarzenegger says that egg protein is the best protein for you (i.e. its almost all directly usable by your body).

it seems like everyone on this board (i'm just speculating here) uses those whey protein tubs you buy off the internet and at gnc and such. do yall think its better than my eggwhite smooties and why?

oh also, the main reason why i do my smoothies instead of the synthetic ones is cuz they taste 1000000x better...=) people always taste them and think i'm treating myself to a little treat. little do they know its packed with 40-50g of protein. my mom thinks i should sell them outside the gym at my school...=)

so to sum up, whats yall's opinions? should i stick to eggwhites or should i start buying synthetic protein...??

I usually don't go above 40g (sometimes I get into the 50 range if it is after a very long and intense workout) I feel my body isn't using anything above 40g. If I try cramming more than 40g in my meals I notice more fat gains.

I think postwork out whey is superior to all other proteins. It has the quickest digestability and BV%. This means it gets into the muscles the quickest and has the best results for nitrogen balance. Personally I would use whey over egg postworkout. I think most people will agree. Your eggwhites are good, always good to get whole foods too, and a wide range of proteins. I won't get into the health issues of drinking raw eggs though, got myself pretty sick once doing it. So be careful!!
I think it would be beneficial for you to go out and buy a tub of whey for post workout.

Arnold is a very smart man, but just because he says something doesn't mean it is true. It's still just his opinion.

Very true with all that pain said. I do like egg protein but for post wokout whey is far better. Not to mention cheap and easy. Just add water/milk and mix.

clocks- if you get a good brand, the taste is pretty good. I prefer PRO-RATED, if the taste of ANY brand is bothering you add a banana, and spoon of peanutbutter! Good luck bro.....I agree that tuna tastes like A$$!
