    yea i need to get one of those. Hey, how do you find your target heart rate? or just what would it be for me (21 years old, 200lbs)

    The most accurate method is the Karvonen Formula. Below is a link to an online calculator and more information if you want to know the formula for figuring it out yourself.

    The most accurate method is to find your actually max heart rate on a treadmill, in a flume, on a rower, or a bike...depending what you train more on; and then adjust your percentages from there on.

    If you are in a very controlled environment sure, but most people don't have access to equipment that will give reliable results as people cannot maintain their max HR for a few minutes to get a good solid reading so its a lot of guess work to know when you meet your max and then be able to maintain your max as the majority of people will start to drop off and run at 90%-95%.

    If you have private trainers or coaches (not personal trainers in a regular gym) then they will sometimes have access to this equipment, often endurance type coaches have this available.
