    tennis elbow

well I did a search and it seems that I have tennis elbow. I took one week off and went back to the gym and aggervated it. Can those who have experienced this let me know how long I need to stay off upper body. I really want it to heal not just stop hurting for a while. My legs do need the extra attention but I know I will start seeing the upper body of an ethiopian in the mirror soon....and I was doing so good.

    any help/advice is appreciated

I wrestled for 4 years and had what you had and it never bothered me because of two things.. after working out ICE IT. and second load up on Glucosamine/MSM Complex...this is a dietary supplement the helps support joint cartilage...works

You really should see a doctor. The ulnar nerve is also in the elbow and may need surgery to be fixed. It's a nerve that runs through the elbow and that's the nerve you hit when you strike the "funny bone". It's just like corpal tunnel. The condition is called cubital tunnel syndrome and that can be confused with tennis elbow because the problem is in the same part of the elbow.

The make it short, see a doctor and make sure it's only tennis elbow and not cubital tunnel syndrome.

Before anyone says anything, I know tennis elbow is from tearing the tendon in the elbow. A side effect can be the pinching of the radial nerve. My suggestion is only that you shouldn't rely on self diagnosis and see a doctor to make sure you are trying to treat the right thing.

    Good luck.

Save some money and go to a chiropractor. They will be able to diagnose it just as good as a doctor (their schooling is just as rigorous), and if it turns out to be tennis elbow, they won't just throw you a bottle of pain killers. They can help you via ultra-sound treatments, and such things. If it's not tennis elbow, they can take X-rays as well. Just my .02. It will be cheaper on the pocket book as well. Sorry, just partial to my chiropractor.

I have a friend who's wife is a prominant chiropracter in town, maybe I will swing by and have her take a look. The pain goes from the middle of the top of my forearm to just over my elbow.

    Thanks Bro's

A chiropractor and an internist have simular training, but a chiropractor's main focus is on the spine. If you have a friend that's a chiropractor or if you're already seeing one, then cool, but if not, you should always see your doctor first and let him/her refer you to a specialist (I would refer you to a neurologist if I wasn't sure). A chiropractor isn't equiped to deal with cubital tunnel and isn't trained how to tell the difference. A neurologist will even have to do electrical testing to make sure s/he's not wrong.
