Buyer advice: home gym equip...
Look, I know this isn't an AAS question - but there isn't a forum for this - and the lounge is just ... people telling jokes. So ... serious question I don't know where else to ask ... Please save me the grief of being lectured about which forum this belongs in - honestly ... this is the MOST accurate one.
So, I'm thinking along the lines of the following:
- Power Cage (Please make suggestions, smith not needed, though)
- FreeMotion Dual Cable Cross (unless you have a better suggestion for cable, in a compact and highly adjustable design)
- Dumb Bell Set (Any suggestions of a brand at a good price?)
- Adjustable Bench (Which one did you like most?)
- Olympic Weights

you need a smith and one with a cable pull down and row pully on the bottom!! for dumbell I like the blocks. I got a pair that are ajustable from 5lbs to 65lbs for $150. as for a bench I would recomend one that does decline all the way up to military, and that isnt atached to your smith. make sure its got leg exstention and leg curl on it,also make sure your bench comes with a preacher curl. as far as a cable cross over buy 2 pullys and some plastic coverd cable and make your own, that will save you a ton of money and probly work better. Go to ebay and search you should be able to get everything I talked about plus 300lbs of weights for under $900

Also you should search ebay for stuff. You can really make a bargain there if you`re lucky.

New name was an attempt at being slightly more anonymous - thanks for blowing my cover! lol
The Blocks? I have selecttech now, they suck. They're unweildy and cumbersome. I don't know, maybe that's an advantage in some respect, but it doesn't feel like it. Are the blocks any better?
And is there not a single endorsement for the FreeMotion Dual Cable? Just seems like it's more adjustable than anything else I've come across... adjustable, height AND width ...

i think a cable cross is a waste, it is large, expensive and i myself dont use it very much, therefore i do not need it, ig et more out of a bench any day.
the block dbells are a good idea, they save alot of space and they are lees expensive thean buying every set of Dbelss from 10- 100lbs.

Well, I realllly appreciate the advice on this stuff - What would you suggest as an alternative, prefabbed (I don't want to make my own) good cable cross set up.

Hey man I realy dont now how skilled you are but it realy isnt that hard to build yourself a realy fancy cable crossover. all you need is 2 walls 10 feet apart and 8 feet high, or wider and taller will work to. 2 heavy duty pullys from fleet farm, 2 plastic coverd cables from fleet farm 16 feet each in lenth, 4 cable clamps, and 2 stirrup handles. you also need 4 balays its a spring loaded piece that you can clip on and unclip if you depress the spring. then all you need is some wood or steal to make a guide for your weights so they dont put groves in your walls. or if you got cement walls like I do you dont have to worry about the guides then. good luck

Bro i sell fitness equipment for a living. Free motion is very good quality stuff. Probably nicer then what most gyms have.
What area of the country are you in?
Also who ever said you can get it all for under $900 is nuts.
