need advice on a barbel??
Hi all i am setting up a gym in my garage I am almost there but am looking for an olympic barbell. I have found 6ft and 7ft ones but the 6ft is so much cheaper is there any disadvantages of a 6ft bar?

i thought all "Olympic" barbells were 7 ft standard. not exactly the expert on the subject, but i cant see why a 6 footer would hurt if your working out in the garage.

No, don't get the cheaper bars. I've had my experience with cheapos and they won't hold up. Get a quality bar. I got a super cheap set from dicks, the bar stripped and bowed within a year making my dedicated bar for t-bar rows. Now have a 1500lb capacity power bar, awesome peice of equiptment.

a 6ft bar would probably be useless. It is to short for cages and olympic benches
