who told you there are only 4 or 5? there TOO many agencies that cert now adays. if your intersted in getting one, there are only 8 agencies taht are NCCA regulated and Nationally recognized, which makes you a MUCH hotter candidate for gyms and companies to hire. my agency is national and regulated with a very cheap renewal fee for CEC's. check it out.

I have a Ace Certification which was only 40 hours of classroom instruction, which is actually a lot in terms what others require. No offense to anyone holding a cert but I can honestly say there was not a thing taught in class I didnt already know. If you are looking learn the ABC's of training/diet/cardio they are ok. It was downright scary to look around at the average IQ/Fitness level of the people in that class and think they were going to be giving people advice in the gym.

yes a cert is just a basic thing to make sure you you know the basic info and arent going to hurt anyone. Its up to you to continue your education. I used to goto seminars and crap to learn new stuff.

you must have some good overall knowledge because the average person in the gym does not know ass from elbow in regards to physiology, anatomy, etc.

Prone2rage. This might not be the place to post this or ask this question but would you know why i can't add people as friends and things of that sort.. it says I don't have the privledges??? As for what certs. are the best.. its not the certification that makes the trainer its the Trainer.. but like someone else mentioned choose a Cert that is well recognized and established. I was told that ISSA is the only accredited one that has received the edu. domain.

A big A&P background and 15 years of competing before I got cert. I only did it because my work paid for it and paid me to go as well. I was lucky enough to be mentored for a decade by a guy with a masters in nutrition and over 100 natural contests under his belt.
