DSM or any other video savvy members - Laptop/HDMI

I've been shopping around since my girl threw my laptop at me in a furry of rage (story another time) and want something I can play video's on my plasma.

I have HDMI inputs on my TV.

I was looking at some laptops that have HDMI outputs, but is there anything else I should be looking for? Most HDMI includes sound as well as video I believe?

I'd like to put my Blue Ray backups on my HD, but would the image be in 1080 through my laptop?

    Thx in advance

Get yourself an xbox or ps3, laptops will need constant updating not to mention the cost of those gaming machines. By the way you cn watch blue ray with ps3, and netflix.

I have a PS3, but can I use an external HD on it?

Blue Ray would be nice, but probably more DVD than Blue Ray.
