Arnold Strongman Championship going on right now at the Arnold...
I know most of you guys are bodybuilder types here, but I thought you might be interested in the kind of weights these jacked fatties throw around.
Zydrunas Savickas cleans and presses an 415lb axle 5 times then deadlifts (16" hummer tire deadlift) 1110lbs for a new record. Mark Felix of England (I know we have some English blokes on this site) held the record today in the deadlift very briefly with an 1107lb deadlift.
The top American is Big Brian Shaw. He's the largest human being that I've actually had the pleasure to compete with. The man is 6'8 and 417lbs. He's in second behind Z right now in the overall standings.

God willing, I'll stay healthy and finally be able to get a good cycle going (haven't done anything but TRT since 07). I figured another 15 pounds of muscle (that will put me at the 320 mark), and another sixty pounds on my overhead and I'll be able to compete. I appreciate the support fellas!!!!
Anyway, here are some more vids:

Travis 36
Misha 30
Felix 24.5

Mad props to Brian Shaw for taking down Z. No one thought it was possible. Jenkins came out of nowhere to overtake Z with an impressive showing in both the frame carry and the 242lb db press for reps. Awesome to see two Americans take the podium. Seems the Americans are starting to get back on top of the strongman game again.

Good luck! I can't imagine how you would train for these types of events - I assume going to the gym is only a facet of what you need to do. You must get fairly creative for the training?

Gym training is the main facet of training. But we stick to only compound movements. We do very limited body part specific training.
Besides that in order to be successful at that level (the "pro" level) you have to have access to the equipment that is being used in these contests.
