I agree with most of what he is saying but the economic conditions of Yugoslavia did not cause its demise, it was the rise of Nationalism in government...

Yeah bro we need to get out of Iraq and afghanistan etc. But the help we have provided so far in Libya is not a big deal IMO. Obama does not want another war. I am not worried as long as a democrat is in the white house. Even if we invaded Libya it COULD be quick as the goal is easy as hell to accomplish: Throw over Gadaffi and put someone who has US interests in mind into his position (by "election" of course...). Now this isn't to say that it couldn't be screwed up completely. I know that's somewhat along the lines of what they said with invading Iraq but the mission there was very ambiguous deliberately.
As soon as Europe and other nations, including us, burned our bridges with Gaddafi I knew for sure that we were going to get involved (and probably already were).
So to sum things up here:
The dollar is being deliberately depreciated to help with our trade deficit and to help with US exports = GOOD
The dollar depreciating is a double edged sword so they better play the cards right = BAD cuz politicians not economists run the world (or banks but that's another story)
Other currencies are appreciating which = GOOD
Gold and silver are artificially high and in many cases are trading (like other commodities) well above what they are worth = BAD (silver for example is trading 1.22 for every $1 in some cases)
Buying silver and gold will leave you to be taxed about 28% or so on returns and you can get taxed 15% or so but you have to fill out a special tax form (so you pay a 22% premium and a 28% income tax, sweet!)= BAD
Even if you buy silver and gold you won't actually be able to turn in you shares for silver or gold anyway (In one case you probably will but you have to have over 600,000 invested at current market price in the fund) = BAD
I also believe that if shit hits the fan nobody is gonna want a sliver of gold at the grocery store anyway.Last edited by Twist; 04-23-2011 at 01:55 PM.

Here is a great book for you all to read (if you haven't already) "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" written by John Perkins. He is also author of "The Secret of an American Empire"

Economic and social reality. Anyone who dreams of bringing back jobs for America is in for a
disappointment. We cannot produce enough jobs for existing population. Compound that with
an annual immigration rate of about 1 million legals a year. Just insanity! And anybody out there
that does not have specific job skills, and I'm not talking about "working construction", is doomed!
It is just that simple. Degrees in soft sciences are worthless unless you can find a slot working the
welfare beat!

We need to stop spending on the prison system. LoL I like what Stern proposed a while back - burn all the child molesters and rapists and use their ashes to fill the pot holes in NYC!

John Perkins does a great job of laying out his first hand experiences as a U.S. Govt contracted international infrastructure consultant dating back to the early 60's. The book really answers alot of questions of how many of our domestic and more so international problems first started.

Over a billion spent on the this most recent mid-eastern misadventure. Meantime, our southern border
leaks the scouring of south and central America.

This is the same scare tactic the government uses to get people to give up their rights.. i couldn't listen past 7 minutes of him talking himself up in such a monotone way.. the truth is that America is in a lot of trouble.. but then again so is most the rest of the world.. and any link between the US and the middle east uprising has nothing to do with the dollar and everything to do with the CIA and young people rejecting ancient ideas in these countries.

This is an issue arising across the world.. with the mechanization of most factories and farms.. we just don't need as many people working.. something needs to be done, and i vote population control.
A friend of mine was telling me about a tomato farmer who used to require something like 70-80 workers to pick the tomatoes.. in 10 hour shifts.. he got this machine who picks all 100 acres in a couple days.. requires 3 drivers..
Constantly businesses look for ways to be more efficient.. which means require less labor.. which means require less workers.. less jobs available with more and more people coming into this world will result in a lot of unemployed people.. and unemployed people are the 500% more likely to riot/rebel than someone that is employed.. as they have nothing to lose.

Population growth is the single biggest threat to mankind for myriad reasons.
19 billion by 2099.
People are going to be living in squalor as the entire planet is turned into one giant fvcking factory where only the very richest are afforded the simple luxuries we take for granted today.
