There is no such thing as a law abiding police officer. There never will be.

Because in this world I'm obviously not very excepted because of my job. Even the fact that you were told ages ago shows that it makes ppl think differently than if I was a garbage man!
Let's be honest...given the nature of this forum it now means I will be judged while others are not....again...such is life!

Funny...I have probably given more out than I have ever recieved! Believe me, I could have continued to deny (and probably should have) but what I do doesnt change who I am...it only changes who some of you THINK I am.
Bring on the hate that will follow this new development!!!!

A farmer and his pig were driving down the road when a cop pulled him over.
The cop asked the farmer, "Didn't you know it is against the law to ride with a pig in the front of you truck?"
The farmer replied, "No, I didn't knowed that."
The cop asked the farmer where he was going and he said, "To Memphis". The cop said, "I will let you off the hook this time if you promise to take the pig to the zoo when you get to Memphis."
So the farmer promised he would.
Several days later the cop spotted the farmer with the pig driving down the road and he pulled him over again.
The cop said "I thought I told you to take this pig to the zoo when you got to Memphis" and to this the farmer replied "I did and we had so much fun, I'm taking him to the circus."-XL

The irony is, that cops get the same bad press in the news that steroids do.
One bad apple is put on the news, and it tarnishes the whole barrel, and I would guess there are more good cops than bad cops out there. But you'll never hear about them...
But I agree with the opening post completely. I think you should have to be physically fit to be a cop. We all know that with time as you get older, your body breaks down but there is no excuse for getting fat. I think every couple of years cops should have to take a fitness test. They should take things like age into consideration, but if you fail said test, you should take a small pay cut. You can have the opportunity to get this pay cut back, providing you cut the mustard by the time the next fitness test comes round.
Those that pass or excel, should be considered for small pay rises or promotions. I couldn't think of a better incentive to stay fit. Maybe then there wont be cars upon cars waiting in Dunkin Donuts car parks.

Couple things.
There are idiots in every profession.
I've known many LE's who use AAS.
Unless you're running a large scale lab out of your house most cops don't care. It's not a high priority.
Cops have unions. Other professions have unions. People in unions take care of each other. It's that simple.
I have many LE friends. I've seen them fired and even written tickets for accidents. It does happen.
Lyle Alzado f'd it up for all of us and made the black market far worse than it ever was. Dickhead.
Finally. Lunk I think your an asset here and I don't care what you do or don't do for a living. Stick around.

If it was good enough for Ronnie it's good enough for Lunk IMO.
Are you a bicycle cop. ?

Very few people here have the credibility and integrity that Lunk does in my opinion. I consider him a valuable member and FRIEND and I rarely throw the latter term around because I'd rather keep my distance from people - they are generally a self serving disappointment (call me cynical).
Are cops perfect? Nope. Show me someone who is and I'll show you a self absorbed LIAR. Lets be real. We are all corrupt. We all lie, cheat, steal, etc. I'm not implying every person is a cold hearted killer but as we stand around and judge cops, we judge ourselves. Sure, as Jimmy pointed out, the mistakes cops make could hurt others, but that doesn't presuppose every cop is corrupt. Should they be held to a higher standard? Perhaps, but what of policy makers and government officials? Aren't they even more influential affecting more people with their corruption and lies? Why not hold them to greater accountability?
I'm not suggesting we turn a blind eye, but all too many people are quick to pigeon hole cops into a category of wrong doing. Yes, like some of you, I've had bad experiences with one or two cops and my short fuse never helps the situation but I have considerable respect for the law and those who do their best to uphold it. I certainly wouldn't want Lunk's job. I know the kind of shit he puts up with daily. He sees the worst of humanity at times and its his job to try and insulate the rest of us.....and when he's not informing a family that one of their loved ones was brutally mutilated, he's dealing with hatred and attitudes from those he's pulled over for traffic or other infractions. I can't imagine a work place where most of the time you are surrounded by the worst situations, people are cynically evaluating everything you do and the people you serve either hate you or think you are corrupt.
Lunk is a class act in my book and always will be. I don't care if he's wearing the badge or plowing manure. He's a far better person than I'll probably ever be.
Respect brother. You know where you and your family stand with me.
