Original Star Wars fans
So it took me some time, but I've finally found the original Star Wars movies WITHOUT the added George Lucas sh!t in HD format. They are titled, 'Star Wars - Despecialized Edition'. All three originals have been done. Some dude did them himself. I downloaded them last night and watched a little of A New Hope and it looked great.
Just an FYI, I found copies on a popular torrent site.

Torrents ROCK. I see people buying DVD and hitting up redbox and think WHY? I do hope the next three star wars are better than the last three (prequels).

I've read too many star wars books. Never really got into Star Trek though, I watched a bunch of episodes but I didn't really enjoy it.

I use to do torrent but have not in a couple of years. I use to download a LOT of movies off all type. Some turn out to not be quite what you thing and you want to scrub your HD after see what it is.
Speaking of movies, I cut the cable and satellite not long ago. I have been doing Amazon prime and local digital (sucks) channels that = like 4 worth watching.
I'm thinking of trying the Roku. Have you tried it?Last edited by lovbyts; 04-01-2014 at 12:32 AM.

Never heard of Rodu. About to cut the cable myself. We are just down to the min. now. We got a smart TV and I just download torrents and transfer them to a USB and bingo, everything on TV plus movies. Works great. Torrents have come a long way. All depends on your torrent site. If you want help just PM me.

I bought my parents a Roku box so they could stream NetFlix. This was several years ago, so I'm sure they've changed them by now, but it was really buggy and extremely slow responding to commands.
I cut cable a long time ago. Its funny when talking with friends and a TV show conversation comes up. They freak out when we tell them we don't have cable. One of their responses was, "What do you do?!" Pretty sad people rely of cable that much.Last edited by Black; 04-01-2014 at 05:18 AM.

I exclusively use torrents now, plus a couple streaming apps for XBMC. I get torrents for consistent 1080p HD quality movies and TV shows if available (like the new Anchorman which comes out today will be on their shortly. I've seen it, but want the extras).
Then I use XBMC apps to stream newly aired TV show episodes (for instance, Game of Thrones starts up Sunday) and also for leaked film reels of Movies still in theaters. Not that HD Camera bootleg sh!t.

I have Apple TV and my dad has Roku and I highly prefer Apple TV. I feel like it's easier to navigate, I can stream vids/pics as well as my entire iTunes library onto the TV. I don't think you can do that with Roku but I may be wrong.

Yeah from every thing I read you can do all that also but the Roku is supposed to do a better job of searching for movies. It searches a large library or online sources including netflix, amazon and many other all at the same time giving you the option of where you want to watch it from.
I think I'm going to pick one up today and give it a try. They have a thumb drive model for $39 and the top end for $99. I like the Roku 3 because it's HDMI as well as the remote has ear phone jack built in so no need for a separate wireless headphone setup.

I got the Roku and liking it so far. My Amazon prime movies look 100% better. Red box is easy now and no need for the laptop. 100s of channels and even the good free porn channels plus a lot more I never heard of.
Well worth the money IMO

Update, I just found something that looks even better. Anyone try the Matricom G-Box MX2? Looks sweat.

I've looked at something similar to this for the sole purpose that it supports XBMC. With XBMC, you can stream anything. For instance, I was scrolling through looking for something to watch last night and came across Wrestlemania 30 PPV. Loaded it up and streamed it live (I'm not into wrestling, so I didn't watch it long, but its cool to know I could).
I do all this through a PC, but have been looking for a small, inexpensive HTPC to hook up to the TV. Thanks for posting, I'll check the reviews.

Yup I have been reading the XBMC forum. Looks pretty easy to set up and I already have a HDMI dongle for the Mac book air, newer model. Hope I get a chance to do it this weekend. No time due to working 16hr days the last few and after having some fun with the yesterday I got 45 minutes sleep before working 15hrs today.

With the Roku and G-box can you stream live sporting events?
I cut the cable a year ago and the only thing I really miss is F1 and football.

Cool. Thanks for the info. But think as you're teaching to the slowest kid in the class, as someone who knows NOTHING about these devices. Let me see how right or wrong I am. I need high speed internet into my home. I plug the G-box into my internet, and into my HD TV and BAM I'm streaming shows off the innertubes?

Yup pretty much. Watch a few youtube videos of it and it does look that simple. The nice thing is it's also easy to add other programs like XBMC that gives you a LOT more of the free stuff and it's an easy install as well as short videos showing you how to do it step by step if you need.
