Scariest Movie You've Seen?
Hey all....not this coming weekend, but the weekend after my girlfriend is heading home and virtually all of my friends have commitments...i have one friend coming up who I've been best friends with since the second grade. We've decided to relive our childhood and watch some scary ass movies one night since my cycle prohibits me from going out and getting plastered.
Right now, I'm looking for some diamonds in the rough. Movies that are intelligently scary as hell...not your standard nightmare on elm street fare (though the original scared the HELL out of me) but almost disturbingly scary. I've heard "The Others" "Body Parts" and a few others mentioned by friends...but am looking for some feedback here at AR. I figure if it scares you guys, it'll scare anyone.

I like the whole Omen series... Omen, Omen II and Omen III Final Conflict.
Damien Thorn is one fucked up dude! The movies themselves aren't that scary, but they fuck with your head.
Another classic I like is the original "Friday the 13th" and the original "Halloween" movies... all the sequels suck ass, but the originals had a certain little somehting about them.

I also kinda liked the last remake of "House on haunted hill"... had a little somehting about it thats creepy.
Specially when the girl is walking around the basement in the old operating room with the video camera... F*R*E*A*K*Y!

BigGreen..My wife and I have been on a scary movie kick since I'm cycling and she is pregnant..She is 7 years younger than me so a lot of the "classic" ones she has never seen.
We watched the original Halloween Monday night. Very creepy and one of my favorites. Exorcist 3 is very disturbing as well. But I will have to say the "The Ring" that is out now is very damn scary. In fact, it made me a little paranoid the rest of the night and that rarely happens after watching a horror flick. I would go with those if you want a horror fest. Just my.02..

Yah, IT was pretty awful. I bought a tape of it for $2 at a flea market, gave it away 'cause it grossed me out so much.
Another disturbing movie series is the one with that Pinhead guy. Has some supernatural stuff thrown in the story. Totally grossed me out. I went to see it with a friend who's into S&M, he really liked it.
I like suspense . . . like the Alfred Hitchcock flicks, "The 39 Steps," "The Birds," that sort of stuff. But that violent bloody stuff with lots of body juices and people walking around without skin just grosses me out . . .

American Werewolf in London, Hitchhiker and 13 Ghosts. I can't think of any others. I call my daughter, lord knows she knows them all. I'm more of a Sci-fi fan.

thanks for the info...keep em coming, though now I have the unenviable task of picking three or so out of this bunch. Ring's out, cuz we've seen it (I was only mildly impressed) as is Blair Witch, which we've both seen (that i did like though...but if you want a case study in commodified sequels in a can...there you go).

You gotta go old school to hit really scary stuff. The new horrors rely to hard on razzle dazzle special effects
For a few ideas:
Dracula-The original with Bela Lugosi. No music at all wich makes it really creepy. The silence is powerfull as hell.
Hitchcock- The master of horror. Many fine selections. If you'd like my recommendations on those I'd be glad to offer. I've seen every one.
If you are looking for a newer one. I would suggest Angel Heart. Robert DeNiro plays the devil "Luis Sifer" who has a bounty on a mans soul he owns. He hires a low life PI(Micky Rourke) to find this person. Originally rated X but was changed several years later.

Well, if you want messed in the head, there is always Rosemary's Baby
Don't Look Now, with Donald Sutherland is also another "messes with your head" movie.
I also LOVED "The thing"... it's not bad at all.
Amityville is some pretty good "haunted house" stuff.
Can't really go wrong with "Carrie", though everyone has seen it!
If you want funny horror, than you cannot beat "Evil Dead 2" and "Army of Darkness" Those movies just whip my ass!
If you want vampire, "Lost Boys" was pretty cool
"Seven" also fucks with your head... I liked it.
"The Serpent and the Rainbow" wasn't too bad either... nasty voodoo!

Or you could stare at Robert Palson on Fight Club and revel in the horror that will in gulp you when your tits get that big.

I've never heard of that one...but it sounds damn good. Isn't there also a movie with Tim Robbins (fairly new as well) that supposed to be a good scary flick??

Last House on the Left
This was the most disturbing movie I have ever seen. I saw it when I was younger. I think it was rated X at one time because of all the violence and gore. I bought it on DVD about a month ago and still will not watch it and for me that's pretty bad.
