Tattoo Questions
I am thinking about getting somewhat a sleeve that starts right at the end of my left delt, and have it come up to my shoulder and wrap around my back all the way to about 4 in above my nipple. It will be somewhat of a tribal piece, with some pretty specific detail to it. Can anyone with quite a fell tattoos tell me about how much work like this would cost, and how long it would take. I know that a good tattoo artist (rule of thumb) charges 100 a hour, and I am guestimating that it will take about 7-8 hours or so I dont nkow give or take. How long do you guys think it would take?

all depends. how detailed the design is. the amount of lines and shadow. also the artist. some are faster than others. i would say between 5 and 8 depending on the speed of the artist.

tough to say.... the outline alone will probably take 4-6 hours, then around the same for the colouring etc... most sleeves run anywhere around 800-1400... i'd say at a bare min it'll be 8 hrs... all depends on the what the design is as well

yeah it really depends on how detialied and how small the detail.... sounds like you wanted something samoan like the ROCKS ? that has a lot of small detail to it.... not to mention tribal takes longer because you have to go over it a few times to get a nice solid black.. You could be looking anywhere from 6-20 hours on that. I have a koi with water and a lotus on my leg... covers the majority of my quad. and i have it estimated somewhere around 15 hours spent on it so far. and that one is colored so it took less time than a tribal one would.
a good way to save money is get it done at a seasonal place out of season. Ie a beach town in the winter... or in a college town over a break period. I saved some good money this way. but of course make sure the artist is good. look his work over .

ive noticed tatoo artists charge more for tribal type desighns. from the guys ive talked to they dislike doing them because they are very repetitive and outlining is a pain in the ass.

I would say that it would probably take five hours to ten hours and would cost about 800-1200 dollars depending on the detail and exactly how big the piece is

ok It so much depends.... I went to a place and they charge me 325$ Can for a tattoo that took 6hours! And don't know anyone of that place so don't think he made any deal and believe me! He was a good artist!
So for 7-8 hours in QC you could find a good tattoo place that would charge you around 450$Can...
