Siezure Letter, Now what.....
My friend just got a siezure letter regarding a package that was coming from overseas. What should he do next???? If he fills out the paperwork, requesting the contents of the package be destroyed does he still have to appear???... Just wondering if anyone else has ever been through this...any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Many, many threads are posted on this topic. I wouldnt worry too much, just take it as lost. Maybe he should clean his house just to be sure. You have to be ready for this when ordering from overseas.

Tell your friend this:
Just take it as a loss. Ignore the letter. Don't write or sign ANYTHING linking you to the package, no matter how much pressure you feel you're under.

Take Basketcase () lol BASK8CASE'S advice. Ignore it, and take it as a loss.

they sent my friend another letter saying if he did not release it to them that within 90 days it would be destroyed. End of story never heard another thing about it.

Yeah, just leave the siezure letter alone. Throw it out with any receipts or things that would link you to the package (such as a hard copy of your order, money order, etcetera).

BTW...When a mailbox gets flagged, it stays flagged. I have never had anything illegal sent to my post office box. However, after I got my last job, I asked to see the background check information. The HR guy wasn't supposed to show me, but he did. My post office box is flagged. Apparently someone before me had done something illegal with that box. I was completely shocked and a bit upset. But the HR guy expalined that that happens occasionally. It obviously didn't make a difference--I still got the job. But, I was was a bit miffed that kind of thing showed up on my background check.

make a copy of the seizure notice and send it to your source....Some will try and replace your order...depending on how reputable the source is

Forget about your order.

It's a loss and as it's been said before don't reply to the letter. If you have a reputable source, send him the letter and he should resend the gear free of charge.
I don't know about flagging the PO boxes..that may be true. But I know for a fact that customs does not flag names or residential addresses with regards to gear..other stuff maybe, but not AS. Take it from someone who knows what he's talking about. No disrespect to members here on this forum but most here know very little about the logistics of how customs works.

Diesel is right-
-they do not flag your name, nor address. what happens is everything filed is given a case number from there it goes into the database. When the "substance" is destroyed the case it closed.
