To all the needlephobic newbies...
I gotta admit I've been a pus when it comes to self-injections, I've always had someone else to shoot me and that can really complicate things. Anyway, I bummed some pins from a farmer friend of mine and all he had were 18 gauge 1". Not ideal but beggers can't be choosers.
Anyway, I got drunk last night and gave myself my first shot. (I know that is probably not the smartest way to go about it but oh well.)
This was one of the simplest things I've ever done. Very little pain, etc. I'm embarrased that i've spent so much effort avoiding doing this simple thing.
If you have a fear of injecting yourself, check out some of the educational threads and then just do it. You'll be glad you did.

are you ****ing nuts? first off an 18 guage is a little over kill, dont ya think.
second, I think you should have your head checked for doing it while drunk.
if ya cant stay away from the booze(especially while injecting) maby this is not for you. any way, good luck with the cycle

BTW only someone into S&M would inject themself with a 18 gauge...
They are made for injecting large farm animals, not humans bro...

Everybody is a little apprehensive the 1st time that they inject themselves.. Then you realize afterwards that all the fuss was over nothing..
Untill you hit a nerve or inject into a vein...then its like starting all over again.

Bro, just order some pins off line that are at least meant for use on humans. And I don't know why you're drinking on juice.

Look, I knew I'd catch hell for mentioning the booze, but that's the first I've drank since the last time I drank, and this is the start of a new cycle. I won't be drinking anything for the next 12 weeks while I'm on.
It will be tough, but I have plenty of valium and weed to get me through it.(j/k, j/k).
As to all the flack regarding an 18 gauge needle, have any of you guys used this size before? Because I did, and I'm telling you, either (1)the stars were lined up just right and I got lucky or (2) the thing was mislabeled or (3) it's just not the big deal everyone makes it out to be.
Maybe next week will be another story...I'll keep you posted.

I believe that he used an 18 gauge, I mean he said his friend who is a farmer gave it to him, my buddy has used that gauge before so I know its been done, but he said he was bleeding like a mo' fo' after injecting.

An 18g is good for IV cannulation, but for an IM!?! darn that's way big--don't do it too often!

holy crap I just got drink, drunk and drank into one sentence, in a grammatically correct way too! (I think)

I thought a 21 guage would be ok. An 18 guage hell I wouldn't dream of using that.

Well maybe he imagined doing that since he was drunk, lol.

I have to say... I used a 22 gauge the other day and it was MUCH bigger than a 23 IMO. Not to say that some guys aren't desperate enough to use 18G... think about it guys... get huge and use an 18G or not???? I think for most of us that would be an easy choice!

I used an 18G for my first one a few years back. Hurt like hell. Never do that again. No imagine starting an IV with a 14 gauge. (Only good patients get those

bigger gauge = pain, more scarring, worse effect if you hit a nerve, greater chance of hitting a vein, greater infection risk. Stick with 22 or smaller. I like 23s but I must admit a 25 feels better going in. 18ga? No way I would use that on anybody I didn't truly hate. They are handy for drawing, and that's it.

I guess I'm just tougher than the rest.
