thanks for all the responses. . His primary vet is a great woman but i just think shes ignorant to some types of treatment; like deca , and adequan because shes never brought them up in conversation. I will deff give her a call in a little bit and see what she has to say. Medacam is suppose to be the best stuff for arthritis now but he was on it for a little over a year and it 's just really losing it's effects.
What exactly is adequan? Someone post a link w/ some info?

adequan is a joint lubricator, cartillage repairer blah blah blah, in short its great stuff, used heavily in sleigh dogs

Thanks for the link bro. Sounds promising. I'll ask her about it immediately. If she thinks it's worth a shot then i'll deff try that before i go the chemically enhanced way.

Screw you Mealticket. I've paid just as much to be on this FREE board as you have. You come on here hours after the fact to pile on? You're a hell of a warrior. A real big man. Dick

Keep me posted on what course you decide to take, bro. As a big dog owner myself I know that day will come when I need to make such a decision, it is almost inevitable.

def go for it because it sounds like your last option, better to have a chance at a better life, even if risky, than suffer for the rest of it, make sure you keep us posted on the results.
how/ where are you going to inject?? will your dog sit still while you shoot or will you have to sedate him?? what dose / how often will you shoot, im curious about that aspect of it. how big is you dog?

Well dogs have a much faster metabolism than humans so for a 100lbs+ dog I would imagine that a conservative human dose would be good for starters. I would inject him right in his hind quarters, if he is already suffering horrible pain from the arthritis a little soreness from a shot wouldn't bother him. Plus he can't talk so you don't have to worry about him bitching about the soreness to you.

Going w/ that for 2 weeks. even if i do see improvement i'll run that constant and start him on some adequan, after i talk to my vet today. If i don't think he's getting well enough or isn't doing that much better i'll go w/ deca as a last resort
