unencrypted emails can be intercepted... a relative of mine worked for an ISP doing help desk it wasnt yahoo but her and her workmates would nose around for a laugh unofficially of course, so yeh I suppose someone can nose around if they really want to but think of the millions of emails that go through yahoo every day the chances of one of your dodgy emails being intercepted are slim to none

As an IT Professional I can tell you, email is VERY EASY to intercept in transit and when it is on their server, VERY EASY for them to read.

However, I am totally with beuleux on this one. They get millions of emails through yahoo per day. The odds of them reading yours is pretty slim.

But if you want to encrypt your messages, go here:

    http://locknote.steganos.com/

You can create a self extracting text file (will be saved as an executable) that can be opened without installing any software on the recieving end. All you have to do is agree upon a password before hand. (never send password and encryted file together, thats like locking your car and leaving the key in the door)

Locknote does not install on your PC. You just run the executable. Perfect for USB drives. (for you fellow nerdy types)

So in a nutshell, you are sending a message that just has an encrypted file attached. THe actually message body has no communications.

Just use a good password: at least 8 characters, use at least one of each of the following: upper case, lowercase, number, non-numeral.

    IE: J03'sCr@8shAcK!

Joe'sCrabshack!..just so you can see how I cam to that password.

Easy to remember. Very complex as far as password crackers are concerned.. . .A brute-force crack would eventually get it. But it would take a VERY VERY long time and someone would have to want it badly. They would have to try every possible combination of letters, numbers, non numerals from 1 character to the 15 positions it actually uses. Hmmm, rainbow tables might be faster. . .anyway. This isn't a lesson in crytography. Just take the advice.

Just create a new email, attach the encrypted file, and send. The only thing that may get you is the exe file, some versions of outlook will block executable files from being opened. If this is the case, just zip the exe first.

    Hope this helps.
