Infection 1 Month after injection

So about 2 years ago I took one shot of winny from a half full bottle a friend gave me (yea i know stupid no need to comment on that) but the day after the shot spot became so painful i decided to throw away the bottle and didnt do any other shots. eventually the swelling went down and everything was fine.

1 month later while I was at work i felt a little pain on the spot of the injection.. which was wierd because it had completely gone away, after that i felt dizzy tired, had a temperature.. all the signs of an infection

I then fell asleep and when i woke up the swelling on my hip was the size of a football and my temp was 103.. rushed myself to the hospital and it was an infecton

What is the deal with that?? how does it happen 1 month later?

you may have had a pocket of the gear that was per-say walled off and now has spread out and is being absorbed which is now causing your symptoms.
