    New Topic

As everyone here should know Chris Benoit recently killed his family, then took his own life. So it is said that there is going to be a major study to learn about steroids and pain killers. Maybe even a congressional hearing. I was also reading up that over 1000 wrestlers have died at a very young age (all with an enlarged heart) which can be caused by steroids. So what is going to come about steroids...good or bad?!

The problem is that its hard to find someone to conduct a study thats truly unbiased and you know what would come out of a congressional hearing. They dont want the truth, just face time.

It isn't going to be good. I was watching Nancy Grace last night and there was an exwrestler's widow that was on there saying that her husband was taking 70 narcotic pain killers a day leading up to his death. He died at 40 and left behind 2 young boys. Can't remember his name. But clearly somebody taking that many pain killers can't be good for your health but they were still blaming his death on steroids . There was even a doctor on there saying the same thing.

Yeah but we know this will never happen. 20 years of constant steroid stigma and bullshit from the media being fed to the general population cannot and will not be undone. It's just impossible at this point... even if they wanted to undo all of that bullshit the media and government has painted everywhere.

a lot of athletes have enlarged hearts, usually the left ventricle, is it a bad thing? no one can say for sure...are steroids responsible? no one can say for sure. The more you train, the more blood gets pumped through your body, your heart may be growing to accomodate the extra work load, I think an enlarged left ventricle would be a bigger deal if you were some fat, sedentary person. Ive even heard Lance Armstrong has an enlarged left ventricle and I think he's in decent shape!

It IS a bad thing totally. My father had it and was a former steroid user and stayed in shape after but still was overcome by the enlarged ventricle. He was unable to do any strenous activity or physical labor and was constantly fatigued due to the enlarged heart being less efficient at pumping blood. To fix this problem they performed SERIOUS open heart surgery and at the age of 40 he was given a high likelyhood that he would die on the surgery table but the fatauge was so bad that he had to take that chance.

I think we are as guilty of ignorance as the media if we on this board continue to wallow in the delusion that steroids pose no health risks. Regardless of how you spin it, we all who cycle are pumping foreign chemicals into our body for extended periods of time. We are altering the equilibrium of our bodies unnaturally, and yet, to say that the media people are nothing but agenda-pushing idiots is a major double standard. Sure, there's smoking, drinking and a host of other human habits that also pose a notable if not more hazardous risk to human health, but that does not exonerate steroids from the list. Sure, you can cycle properly and ensure they are the least negative side effects to your system but the truth is that, for every one educated steroid user, there are 5 more imbeciles out there looking for a quick fix. They think steroids are magic potions. This is sad but true, that the few of us who do use carefully have to pay the price for the idiots who overdo gear, kill themselves and draw in the media circus. Will extended steroid usage enlarge your heart? yes. Will it increase chances of atherosclerosis (heart blockage)? yes. Cancer? yes...so will smoking and drinking and overeating... We all pick our poisons, but its dumb to be in denial and say steroids arent poisons to begin with. I'm an avid gear user and love using it...wouldn't give it up for the world...but I'm just keeping it real...

Sorry if I sound like I'm soap-boxing, didnt intend it to come out that way...it's just I've been thinking about this for a while now and finally had the chance to give my 2 cents

    cheers
