    Catabolic on gear?

Is it possible to be overtrain and be catabolic while on gear? I know it's probably possible... I guess has anyone had this happen to them? How long did you lay off for. I'm right in the middle of my cycle right now and feel very catabloic - I get over zealous sometimes, what can I say, I'm working on it. I don't really want to lay off, but I'm thinking it might be the best thing right now - at least for a week anyway.

Yup it's possible. Has never happened to me, but I know many who have. Guys would use steroids as an excuse to go from training each muscle once every 6 days to training each muscle once every 2 days. IMO you should never change anything regarding your frequency around just because you're using gear. Just keep doing what you have been doing all along if it's been working.

yeah, i never train anything more than once a week. it's just that i haven't taken a week off from lifting in longer than i can remember now. lately i figured it wouldn't matter when i started my second cycle, but i'm not thinking so anymore.

That's a possibility. I'm starting to think that if you take a week off from training prior to starting a cycle, it can be very beneficial and perhaps even prime the body for the cycle.

i'm going to go ahead and take a week off in the middle of my cycle and see what effect it has. someone posted a link somewhere to a study that showed people on juice who did no exercise whatesover gained more LBM than those who did. let's see what happens!

A couple weeks ago I was feeling run down after 9 weeks on my cycle and I took a week off from training and when I came back I was so fresh and was doing so much better in the gym.

this is how i look at it....

training shouldnt change THAT MUCH from off cycle to on. Training a body part once a week while natural is fine, so I would just double that when ON. An average beginner cycle takes androgens to about 4-5 times the normal, respectivly, when you look at the numbers. This doesnt mean that you can train a bodypart 5 times a week, or even once a week with 5 times as many sets, or even once a week with 5 times the intensity. It doesnt work that way, because there are many other other "anabolic avenues" besides simply androgen blood serum content. So though you may have 5 times as much androgen as normal, your recovery is NOT 5 times the normal. Remember GH, and inuslin is resposnable for muscle growth as well, and though high androgen levels can inadvertainly increase GH output, and insulin sensitivity SOMEWHAT, its not the same as if you increases both those 5 fold as well. Also the neuromuscular system is resposible for how much strengh you have in the gym, and therefore how much muscle growth u can trigger, so if the neuromuscular system is overtaxed/overlaoded, progress will halt. Though DHT and the like stimulate neuromuscular activity/contractile ability of muscle, it is uncertain whethor or not it can "regenerate" the system once its been over taxed.
Also, prostaglandin production is showing a large part in the anabolic process. These very special hormones get depleted very quickly with regular resistance excersise. Though having 5 times the normal androgen level probably does influence these hormones positivly, i doubt u get a 5 times the normal prostaglandin production from it. So, i would say its safe to assume doubling your workload would be just about right, and any more is risking overtraining.
Im sure theres even more "anabolic avenues" that i have missed, or that we simply dont know about, so take that into consideration too.
    Peace.
