amp opening question...

even while using an amp opener, i shattered the tip of the amp while snapping it off. little pieces of glass were pretty much all over the place. what are the chances some of those pieces are lingering in the fluid? i used a 23 x 1 to draw...

Once happened to me too.
It's difficult for the little glass pieces to pass through the needle, but for more sfafety, look carefully in the barrel if you see something wrong once drawed.
The next time be sure you're breaking it on the right side tho...

I had that on my first cycle when using pesky amps!

Find a small modelling file or a sharp slightly serrated bladed and score round n round n round the break line - worth putting the extra time so you dont loose precious gear.

ditto.. i use a blade and just cut and cut till it pops off.. it may take a min or two but it comes off.

i hate amps.... ( I stole this from somewhere else)
Take a spare (or used and washed) 2.5ml syringe and throw away the plunger as you only need the barrel. You only need one barrel and can use it again and again.

Insert the top of the ampoule into the empty barrel until the end of the barrel is in line with the score mark on the ampoule - if in doubt go above the line not past it.

Holding the amp gently but firmly in one hand, lean the top (pin end) of the barrel toward you. The ampoule will snap at the line. Put the top of the amp in a safe place and dispose of with rest of amp when liquid has been drawn.

i just use a bic pen top......i have never had any trouble........i always hold the amp with a towel when i am breaking it......i am always scared i am going to slice a finger off....

I score around the outside with a nail file then take an alcohol swab wipe off and hold the amp with head away from you and it pops right off no shards of glass at all. Keep the swab around the top part of amp for a better grip be sure not to bang the pin at the bottom or it will feel like your skin is leather
