    Cholesterol!!!

So I'm doing a cycle I have done before and just got my bloodwork results back.......I am taking Var and Tbol was doing a 50/50 split but as I'm down to the last 3 weeks on a 9 week cycle I've upped the Var to 80 and Tbol is at 20.

My lipid profile is absolutely horrible!

    Total Cholesterol 287

    LDL 250
    HDL 14

My Doc wasn't too impressed to say the least, I'm prone anyways genetically but this is off the charts. Anyone had it this bad and what did you do to bring it down afterwards? My diet is great so I'm talking supps here......

That is very high. After my first cycle my lipid profile was higher then normal, but nowhere close to what yours is. Maybe someone more experienced can chime in whether or not to stop the cycle now.

Your PCT (specifically Nolva) will help lower your LDLs and raise your HDLs.

There are alot of SPECIFIC things like plant stanols, beer (one a day), oatmeal, almonds, and LOADS of other foods that are able to naturally improve that bad ratio if you add them to your already good diet... Look for a supp called Cholest-off. and a fiber suppliment. (just don't take TOO much fiber HAHA)

My levels are right around there because I am genetically cursed with it, but the doc gave me a cardio image exam and my arteries are clean so not sure how he's gonna want to treat it. I am going for another blood test in three weeks. I'll see what it looks like again then.

he should have prescribed something for you, maybe simvastatin or Lipitor

You can take OTC Niacin which will help a bit with the high LDL and will certainly help raise HDL...

Orals are much more likely to cause cholesterol probs then injectable. I wouldnt worry about it to much while ur on, but if it dont go down when u come off is when u have a problem...

if you're on cycle your values will be screwed up. just wait they will go back to normal after you do a pct and are off for a while.

80 var is way too much, and to combine that dose with another oral isn't the smartest thing to do.

I have to say I dont agree with you on 80mgs of Var being too much, depends on the individual and what your goals are......but yes as far as sides it definitely doesn't help things when were talking about lipids and liver profiles. I've known people to do 100mgs/day of Var, whether it is the smartest thing to do or not is for the individual taking it to decide for himself. If your going for an oral only cycle longer than 8-9 weeks I would however agree and say it is too much, but thats why we keep these type of cycles short in the first place.

The Doc is sending me to a cardiologist to determine what is best to do, I know once I'm finished with the cycle and PCT it will go down but I dont think just that is gonna get me anywhere close to where it should be. I'll be doing another blood test at the end of June, hopefully things are looking better at that point. Think I'll give some niacin a try in the mean time.....i'm already taking flax and fish oil, oats, fiber and diet is very good so we'll see.

oral steroids destroy your lipid profile as you have just seen..ive found no amount of supplements will keep those values in a normal range while on cycle..they will generally return to their previous range within a few weeks, but not always..its always a good idea to take cholesterol supp, especially when you come off cycle..this is why I dont use 17aa's anymore

    Damned!

Don't get your cholesterol checked when you're on orals, ya' darned fool!

Of course they're through the roof. My colesterol is bad-ish when I'm natural, but REALLY bad when on Anadrol -50. It always comes back down, so I've learned not to scare my doctor. Nothing I worry about, as it's not permanent... for me. Have yours checked in a few months when you're off.

BTW--do even short periods of high cholesterol have long-term negative effects?

Just curious, seems like an obvious answer but just curious as to what your Dr. said to you.

It would seem that even if you had high cholesterol for a short-period you would still have build-up for a short period.

I doubt it has any positive effects....but high cholesterol over time is the major concern....

I'm curious what your levels were b4 you ran the cycle? Most here would say running 2 orals at same time not such a great idea. BTW how is it turning out for you muscle wise?

Everybody is different. Ran var 70mg/8wks. After about 1mo. got a full physical. Cholesterol was nornal levels. Now maybe it as real high during cycle and pct, I don't know. But I didn't too much care either. I was only concerned after about a month of being done as it is a widely accepted fact that ORALS up the cholesterol levels.. But everybody is different.

Well unfortunately high cholesterol runs in the family so to begin with I'm already at risk. I fully understand that two orals at the same time might not be a great idea but everyone is different and as far as my liver profiles, everything came back normal. My only prob with this cycle is obviously what its doing to my lipid profile. To answer you question though, I'm not sure where my cholesterol was at but I have ran this cycle before and my blood work at the end had my profiles at 207. So you can understand why this time I was a bit scared when it came in at 287 with the "good" being only at 14.

Body wise I have liked my results off this and the previous cycle that were the same. This time around I gained about 9lbs of lean muscle so far and dropped About 1% BF, I have a week and a half left. During PCT with Clen involved I expect to drop another 1% BF. If you know what too expect off this type of cycle and your goals aren't that of what a cycle of Test and EQ would do to you than you'll be happy with the results....IMO

Had a similar experienc. Did a 6 week var cycle @ 60mg/day and cholesterol levels went off the chart.

Was rested 3 months after pct and levels were back to normal.

    Wont do 17aa's again.
