    Periodization and Workout Intensity

Curious to know if anyone follows any sort of periodization schedule or if most people here just go at one intensity (get big, big, big), or two (get big, get ripped). If you run a more intricate periodization, how do you runyour gear with it....

I like to bulk for 6-10 weeks. Heavy lifting, 6-10 reps
Then I will cut for 6-10 weeks. Little lighter weights, 8-15 reps
Depends on how I feel and what I see as being needed more. I am going to start alternating cycles, one bulking, then try to keep gains for a bit, then next a cutting cycle. We'll see how this works.

I have been experimenting with Westside and like it effects so far. It combines a year round strength program with a speed program. Did not see that on your poll so I will throw that in. Strength (which equates to mass) and speed gets my vote.

I usually let my body tell me whether today is going to be heavy or light. I don't allow myself to go light or heavy too many times in a row though.

Every workout I pick one muscle to hammer. That's what I call it - "today i'm going to hammer my chest" - when I work out hard I call it a hammer workout - hence the name hammerhead - a hammerhead is someone who is addicted to hammering the muscles. Me.
