Depressed, my docs a waste, and I'm wasting away.
I'm 31, 6-1, 220lbs. Have been natural my whole life. 15 years of hard work, diet and education. I own a pt business that is very successful, but for the past year something has been off. For the past 9 months or so Ive felt tired for no reason............I just ignored it, tried to get more sleep. I started to notice in my workout logs that my weights were steadily going down. Then came having sex with my gf. It takes so much effort to just get it up, now i rarely do. She knows what is going on and understands, I am still pissed. Clothes that I bought on ebay 4 months ago showed up and didn't fit, my arms wouldn't go into the sleeves, way too tight for me. Three days ago i tried the stuff on again and its all baggy on me. 15 years of dedication is slipping away very quickly.
I finally went to my doc and he did a blood test, check anything and everything you could check, they must have sucked a full protein shaker's bottle worth of blood form me. Test came back, low testosterone . So he gave me a script for a test gel. It did nothing, i called back and he prescribed a different one. I doubled the dose on my own..........i did this for like 4 months now, went back to the doc, it still did nothing. More blood work, everything is fine, test is still low. He calls today and tells me to double up my doses. Too bad i had already been doing that. This crap you rub into your skin is a waste of money. 200 bucks a pop, and nothing to show for it. Ive spent too much money now and no result.
I'm depressed, shrinking, and weak. I try to workout but thats depressing too. I lift less weight than my 60 year old male clients currently. I went form a firgging 275 incline bench for reps of 15 to barely being able to get 135 now, just and example.
What in the holy #%ck should I be doing? What the hell can any of you recommend? I'm very upset that all this work is almost non existent now. I wear the baggiest clothes i have no when training clients. They noticed, a couple asked why i stopped lifting. Funny thing is, i hadn't stopped, it just isn't working any longer. Not enough test in my body to maintain what i Have.
I know, hell of a first post.

God damn bro. Im really sorry to hear your situation.
My advice would be go to a different doc who is willing prescribe a better trt solution.
However you can of course go the other route and pick up some test e and start running it at a TRT dose.
What are youre current stats after having lost all this weight?
Sounds like there maybe some other issues at work here behind the muscle wasting.
-
EDITED Well, I havent been eating all that well the past month, so my stats are all screwed up. Been too worked up lately. Stomach gets funky when im stressed.

Hey man, sorry to hear about your situation. I can relate.
One thing, though, you mentioned your stomach being on the blink lately. Speaking from personal experience - fatigue, loss of strength, weight, etc. can sometimes be the first indicator of a digestive problem, and that can run you down, knocking down your test levels. And stress can definitely worsen GI problems.
You might consider making an appointment with a gastroenterologist, if you haven't already, and explaining your situation like you did in your first post.

Welcome to AR
sorry to hear about your problem
I too would suggest going to a different doctor or asking your doctor about TRT injectable testoterone you were researching online to see if that would be an option since you have tried everything else
should you decide to self medicate, there are many things you need to know before jumping into taking injections. Its not like rubbing low dose cream on your skin
Stick around here and read up on Test Enanthate and Test Cypionate , arimidex
If you go this route, you may be on it for life, so you need to know what you are doing to your body. GOOD LUCK

Lots of good advice on here bro. Listen to the Pro's. they really know whats going on and will steer you in the right direction. Good luck with everything, and sorry to hear about your string of bad luck. Get well soon.

my major concern for him is that he is 31, no kids, and thinking of going on trt. I think if he has children in his future sights then hrt is not the best solution.
any in agreement?

Thanks for the advice thus far people. I have been doing alot of reading up on "self medicating" for a while now. The past month in fact. I would never do that without the proper research first.
Im going to call my doc tomorrow and just tell him the deal. I actually have a client who , for lack of a better phrase "owns the Cleveland Clinic", i guess it may be time i had her make a call for me.
-
Right now kids arent in the picture. I never knew if i wanted them or not. Maybe i better go get a fu#%ing fertility test while im at it and freeze some boys before its too late.

you can't ask for sources on the open forums here. You need to wait until you have been around a bit and then you can PM someone that may have the info you are looking for

If youre shut down for an extended period it can interfere with sperm production. TRT means FOR. LIFE.

I'd come right out and ask for the injections...Dr.'s appreciate educated patients. Only we know our bodies and they depend on objective AND subjective information to make their diagnosis. If your Dr prescribed the gel/patch, chances are you can get him/her to Rx injectable test.
Gels and patches are also "branded" meds and carry a higher copay with insurance leaving more for the patient to pick up financially. Injectable Test is availabe by many generic manafacturers and can be obtained for less of a copay, and are usually reimbursed at the highest tier by your insurance provider. You can also tell your Dr that you and your girl are planning on children and are worried about the transfer of the gel. Also tell him that you are getting a rash at the application site and something in the topical solution is causing a skin irritation. (many of the side FX of Andro-gel)
If that doesn't work, give him one of these...and get a new GP!
Good luck bro...keep us posted

Find a HRT clinic that will work with you, my clinic gives me a generous dosing schedule and I can buy a 6 month supply at one time. If you cant find one PM me.

Even if you quit a TRT/HRT program some time in the future; your testoterone will naturally return to the levels where you started from. But even on replacement theropy HCG prevents your boys from shrinking and elevates your sperm count. Not to worry. And good luck

^^^ you can shut down perm.

I tried that test gel, too. It's garbage, did absolutely nothing for me...and I like you was paying $200/month for it. FK THAT!!! You won't regret going injectable.
-
I agree, that gel is a waste of money. I think my doc kept pushing it is because he got kick backs from all the prescriptions he wrote.
-
Well, its been about 6 weeks since i started my HRT. I went form 209lbs and 18 percent body fat to 235 and 15%. I feel normal again, get erections like a porn star on viagra, dont fall asleep during themiddle of the day any more, and i sleep all the way thru the night.

What was the ultimate solution to the problem? I have been experiencing some of the same problems...poor sleeping at night, need a nap during the day, energy down, weight up and poor erections.
What are you taking?

You try going to an anti aging clinic? They might help you more than your current physician.
