at least 1.5 to 2.5 grams of protien per pound of muscle you have. But i like to think of it like this if your 180 and you want to be 200 then you need to eat like a 200 pound guy

Though dont rely on getting all your protein from shakes. You should be packing a lot of calories high on protein from your meals as well. Check the diet forum for more info. A few my favorites meals: oats/wheyprotein/milk shake, egg whites w/baked beans, whole breast chicken w/ rice, tuna sandwiches w/veggies etc

id personally like to do about 1.5 g/lb while bulking, and up to about 1.8 when cutting. gonna need a little more protein while cutting since you will be using more amino acids for various metabolic processes.

I'm on about 2g protein per Lb of bodyweight at the moment (On-cycle, bulking), and for me this seems to be a good amount to go with without overshadowing carbs & fats, which imo would compromise glycogen (energy) levels.

cool, thanks for the feedback guys. im actually on about 1.75g/lb at the momen so right in between 1.5 and 2, but ill bump it up to 2 if need be. cant really see myself consuming much more than that cause as grandmasterspank said, i would end up compromising my carb and fat intake.

Should depend on your goals, not wether you are 'on-cycle' or not.

I think his main concern was; assuming that his goals are the same on or off cycle, will being on cycle require a greater intake of protein. And by the way ur answering im guessing not...

u are right BBronco, that is exactly my concern. obviously u should consume more protein when on cycle, i was just curious as to exactly how much this was.

For me, my diet split dictates how much protein I need.

    e.g. I am on a 3300 kcal bulking diet and trying for a 40/40/20 split. this dictates that I need 330 g. protein, 330 g. carbs, and 74 g fat.

Yes, carbs are a rather important part of the bulking process, lmao.

I disagree, he looks ripped but likely only about 150-160lbs. Exactly the sort of body someone that eats minimal carbs would have.
