lifting after surgery
hey guys,
i had a surgery for varicocele from about 8 months , the incisions are on the inguinal part of the groin , where hernias usually form .
my question is , can i actually lift heavy without worrying about getting an inguinal hernia at this incision site ??
or am i just gonna get a hernia somewhere in the futur , i cant stop thinking about it everytime i lift heavy and i lift HEAVY and HARD and i wouldn't do it another way EVER.
help anyone ???

I am no expert . I imagine they put you back together to equal person you where before . Women have C-section deliveries without restrictions . Unless doctor told you not to lift ? The doctors told me I had hernia damage from a weak inner wall . Your surgeon would be the utmost expert . Good luck

I had it done a few years ago. I was out jet skiing 2 weeks later. I was not working out regular at the time but I felt I was 100% within a month.
I did have to not have sex for a while, Damn that was a tough 5 days. LOL

Yup, they laid everything out on the table, cut me WIDE open from the base to the scrotum. LOL
He said I should be fine in a few weeks and to just not do anything that was uncomfortable. He didnt like I was out jet skiing so soon because I did sort of tear it open a little and had some white fleshy stuff poking through but in another 2 weeks it was fine and I was doing everything back to normal, jet skiing, racking and stacking 100+ lb servers and???
Just go up slowly in weight and see how things feel.
My wife sort of licked the Varicocele, she said I had 3 balls.

damnnn all the way to the scrotum , no they didn't cut me that much , about 2 inches in the groin thats it. weird thing is , i have that kind of fleshy material on the right side incision, under the skin ... weird , thats what you mean or did something come out of the incision above the skin ??

It came out of the incesioin area where the stitches where. It was a white fleshy stringy stuff but I think it was only fatty tissue? I just sort of pushed it back in and tried to keep it closed up for a while LOL It all healed fine and the doc said it was nothing to worry about but to STOP jetsking until it healed more. LOL

it's 10:30 pm here, I'm in the office also. LOL
How big was your varicocele? mine was about equal size as the balls or maybe a little bigger. I had it for years but it was slowly growing and started to feel like someone kicked me in the balls about 1 or 2x a month. LOL I figured it was a good time to get a vasectomy at the same time

mine was friggin big the doctor was like " woooowwww what te **** , how the hell didn't you notice it ??? "" , i never felt anything even though it was big as hell wrapping my ball , and i actually had two , one on the right one on the left. i accidentaly discovered it when a friend of mine came and he was telling me that he has it , so i went and was doing a self chekup , and " wtf ????" , i was really pissed off when i found it.

how can you not know? My wife noticed right away and so did girlfriends, they though it was cool and never hurt until the last year before I got surgery. My wife though I had 3 balls and that's why I had such good stamina. LOL

dude i had an inguinal hernia , had it for quite some time but i didnt want to go see my doc cos i was embaressed cos it was going into my scrotum ...i eventually did and got the operation ...it hurt like a mofo and my doc told me not to train for 8 weeks so i took his advice and stayed away from the gym for 2 months , when i got back i was so scared to go heavy ..i worked my way up heavier and heavier but it was always playin on my mind ..i went back to see the doc and asked him if it was safe for me to lift heavy weights ..he said no problem , if the surgeoun was good and he done a good job then you should have no problems mate ...im lifting over what i was lifting before the op now ..going deeper in squats and feeling good so just go ask your doc and se what he sais ...peace

thanks for all the feedback guys , i am going very soon to ask my surgeon .
the problem is , i am improving a lot as far as strength and i am a naturally very strong person , i mean i stop for like 6-8 months , i go again to the gym lifting 225 on the bench for reps , not alot of people do that around here , i dont know about you guys .
but usually people who even stop a little bit , get back and start almost from 0 .
and i get stronger REAL fast , like humm in 2 weeks i go from squatting 100 kg for 6 reps , to playing with 150 kg for like 12 easy reps without no belt no nothing.
thats why i am worried , i am so damn good and i dont want anything to hold me back from my greatest potential.

squats I would be worried about the boys falling out on the floor. LOL
OK now the problem is yes you are strong but it is always the strong guys that get hurt then your done/finished so be careful and wear your belt.

heyyy guys
i just called my surgeon and he told me i am in no risk of hernia , he told " it got nothing to do with it " and that i can lift normally just like other people.
damn i swear my heart was like going to explode out of my chest when i was asking him because if he said that i cant lift heavy i would kill myself (well not really lool)
lifting is an essential part of our life , i cant imagine myself without lifting .ever.
