Need info on cortizon shots for arthritis.
I already have arthritis in my right wrist for eight years and two weeks ago, I fractured my right arm and knocked my wrist way out of socket. The injury is so severe that I had to have surgery last week and now have two pens in my arm which my orthopedic DR says it is technically a wrist breakage, but eventially the pens will be taken out. The injury happened by falling while practicing martial arts. The DR said he seen in my right wrist and right arm multiple old breakages that healed on its own and told me that I’m going to get bad arthritis when I get his age. I did not ask him for his age, because I thought that would be rude.
To make a long story short, I’ve been told that Dr's don’t like giving out cortisone shots too often, because it’s hard on the body and is this true? My step father told me that I would be better off with pain pills instead of cortisone shots and what’s your advice on that? I’m obviously not on no cycle now. I also am losing lots of weight from not drinking booze anymore and people like me better now, because I'm sober. Is there websites that sell cortisone for injection or is that a bad idea? I could not get a cortisone shot now even if I wanted a shot, because I have a cast on my right arm. Does calcium with vitamin D help bones heal or is that a old wise tail?

Dude, you're asking this from a wrong crowd! Id say get a second opinion from another orthopedic surgeon. Cortisone is not doctor's favorite but it works in isolating your pain around your joints and tendons. I had a shoulder injury last year and after cortisone injection its totally gone. Having said that, eveyone is different. Football or rugby players use cortisone very offten. Cortisone is used in many different forms that may or may not have bad side effects but injecting it between your joint for the purpose of reducing pain to assist recovery is very common and has mnimum side effects. But do yourself a favor and get a second opinion from specialist.
PS. This is Anabolic Steroid thread. Admin might move this post to more suitable thread.

This thread would be better at the Injury and Rehab forum.
Your right, I checked the forums out and I see this thread would be better to have it moved too the Injury and Rehab forum. Sorry Administrator and next time I'll post in the right area. Thanks Syd-Bloke for your feedback.

My pain Doc tells me that cortizone shots in the long run will make the injury worse because they actually deteriorate the joint and thet a lot of docs wont tell you this so they will have a reason to do surgery down the road.
so therefore I have only gotten one shot of the stuff and in my case it seems over rated.and my wrist was broken in 4 places out of socket and took 3 serguries.I have a good deal of metal in mine that won't be coming out.I am sure i'm in for it when I get older

I had many cortisone shots playing pro sports and its either for sucking up the pain and keep playing or to stop the pain to give you a chance to hit the gym and get the muscle stronger so the pain may go away. You can usually only receive up to 3 shots for the same injury and welcome puffy face...
