Testing was done with a Raytek MT4 Infrared Laser Thermometer
heat was controlled by gas volume to keep temperature steady at 265F.
Could you give me a step by step procedure of the proper way to performing the melting point test?

I will be getting a infrared thermometer soon but have not decided on which i should purchase just yet.The main purpose on getting it is to check the temperatures on metals before welding onto them again.Allowing them to cool to make welding on them simplier. But i also would love to use the infraredthermometer to check the melting points of some syno test and tren to see how pure they may be.

I would be happy to waste all 15grams or more from a box of syno to learn how pure its coming out.I see someone else used gas volume to keep temperature steady.I currently dont own a gas burner. What would be the kinds i should look into getting just for these experiments?

My welding instructor said where he works they handed everyone a infrared laser gun and before they could use them them they had to send them to some testing company to test or calibrate them.He said once they got back they was within 2 degrees of the actual heat.Would this be close enough?
