    Water retention

    Hello everyone,

Just a quick question about water retention. I am confused as to what retaining water actually means. Does the added water mass contribute to added strength? After a steroid cycle does your body naturally excrete the water, or does it say in your muscles?

I'm sorry if it seems a pretty basic question

    Thanks for any help.

    Charlie.

70% of a muscle is water, the water retained and then lost post-cycle is water that the body stored due to the nature of the compound (ie. it converted to estrogen at a fairly good rate, high estrogen levels = water retention).

So post cycle when estrogen levels fall the body releases the water that is not needed to hydrate the amount of muscle in the body, so thus alot of the water you lose is mostly from taking an aromatizing compound and your diet (ie. bulking)

if you want to keep water weight under control you could add liquidex or exemestane during your cycle.

Ok, so I presume that losing this water weight means a decreased value in strength?

Are stregth and muscle mass proportional? For example does 20kg of leg muscle always produce x amount of power?

    Many thanks

No, the water that you lose is EXCESS water that is tied hormonally. For example, when a women goes on her period she tends to BLOAT, why? Because her hormonal levels (specific estrogen) SPIKE, but afterwards when the levels return to normal the bloat is gone. That doesn't mean that the water she lost was valuable to the body.

So in turn if you lose lets say 5lbs of water that doesn't mean you not going to be putting up what you usually put up, its just EXCESS WATER that the body is dropping. It doesn't need it and the only reason it had it was a combination of your diet (high in calories) and hormonal levels which caused BLOATING.
