Question about AAS and sexual function
okay here is my question and some personal history:
in my late teen and early twenties, i embarked on some cycles that would be deemed questionable (at very least) by current standards on this board. i did a few 6-8 week dbol only cycles and probably 4-5 pyramided 10-12wk deca only cycles (start @ 100mg/wk up to 500mg/wk) then back down.
now i have to say that given what has been reported as the extremely suppressive nature of deca, even in small doses, i expect that my natural production of test was more or less suppressed (although i do not remember noticing any testicular atrophy). also my libido was not suppressed either, if anything it was increased.
my question is related to my personal history.
if AAS act to mimic (in some fashion) testosterone , then why would they not do so in the sexual tissue as well?
why would the sexual organs respond differently then the rest of the body?
thanks

they do you add more test you get improved sexual drive right..
They are strange cycles did you run any pct?
Your deca dosage of 100mg is very low and you may have been lucky and the d-bol cycles well i spose all the old school guys rave about them but alot more is known now..

what i mean to say is that my understanding of AAS is that the various compounds bind to various receptors in the body signaling the body to make certain changes. for instance AAS will bind to androgen receptors in the body (some more and some less strongly than test) and will cause the body to respond in kind (increased muscle growth, hair growth, etc.)
now one of the reasons that test is recommended as a base for stacked cycles is that endogenous testosterone is (or can be) largely shutdown, and sexual side effects can occur. i take this to mean that testosterone is necessary for normal sexual functioning.
so back to my question. if deca (for example) binds to the same receptors that testosterone does, then why is testosterone necessary for normal sexual function since deca is mimicing (more or less) it's role in the body? especially given the large amounts of deca that would be in someone's system
